Kalex XR3 Rod - Spinning & Casting

Like it better than my XR5! Handle, tho efficient, is kinda clunky. ( i mean crystal chips, huh?)Will update when we hit the water.

I loved the rod. It is lighter than I expected. Just light as a feather and very durable. Hooked on to a 22in. Redfish. Was very satisfied with how the rod held up against the fight. Will definitely be getting another one for a spinning reel. I just received my second kalex rod(spinning rod). Very satisfied with it not being damaged in the package. Got to me in great time. I love this rod it is very light and love the feel of fighting some speckled trout, red fish and flounder ranging from 15 to 30 in. All in all a great product.

DO NOT BUY!!I bought 5 of these and they look great. The 2nd pierce (top half) is very fragile. 4 of them have broken during casting with a 1/2 oz. weight on a monofilament leader. One broke when putting the two halves together (the coupler part split. The base part of the ride seems good but the top half will not last.

If you are looking for an ultra light rod, look no further! I gave it 3 stars because the profile on the rod wasn't what I imagined it was going to be. I bought the 2 piece, 6'6" Medium Casting rod. I was expecting the diameter of the rod to have a bigger profile. At first it felt very flimsy, and I wasn't sure it was going to hold up.I gave it a chance and paired it up with the Kastking Crixus reel. Took it out and it did it's job. I would prefer something with a little bit more backing. This rod will be perfect for my nephew who's just getting into fishing.I'd like to give it 4 stars, as I didn't have a bad experience with it, I just wish i would have had access to the specs before buying. This would make for a great pansfish setup IMO.

For the money, you cannot beat this. I have caught 10 bass since delivery, with the biggest being about 3 lbs. or so, and it has performed great. Obviously 3 lbs is not huge, but I have put in some work with this rod. It is not the lightest, though, as compared to some of my $80-$200 casting rods, but it will definitely get the job done. The two piece design has not been an issue yet, and this is just a good overall cheaper rod!

This would be a really nice rod at 2-3x the price. Paired it with the Crixus Dark Star from Kastking to tool around the creeks and ponds at our campground. Easily handled bass in the 3-4lb range and some pretty good sized carp. The reel seat locks down firmly with no slop or give, the guides play nice with braided line, has plenty of backbone. It says medium power but feels more like medium heavy to me, which is crazy to me because the materials to construct a rod like that are typically either much heavier or much more costly to produce. All I know is this is probably the most versatile setup I have and the one I seem to reach for most when the kids want to go fishing.

Honestly started out buying the rod just so every reel had a rod. Since then it has been my go to rod and reel, I have it paired up with a lews 8 bearing reel and together they handle like a dream. Very versatile, have no issues using it to pitch, flip or skip as well as long cast. Very good action and flexibility. Have landed a few 8+ pound bass and this rod stood up to the test. A great buy. Will definitely be ordering a few more.

I didn't have high expectations for a rod in this price range, but have no complaints I ordered a medium heavy and it seems to have around the same background as my other medium to heavy rods. the hook holder is nice but it can get in the way if you hold the reel in a certain way, so it might need some adjustment to not catch the line coming off of your real. This rods are great value I'll be buying more kalex rods to replace my aging collection.Update 2020, this was my favorite rod, broke it inshore fishing when I hooked something large. For the price it worked long enough.Update 2021Broke my 3rd one, same spot about an inch from where the rod's separates. Every other rod in my quiver is still alive, although I loved the action I would look somewhere else for a MH rod. First two broke inshore fishing which isn't really what it's for, 3rd one broke in freshwater pulling a small cat out of the bushes.
