The many used of feed sacks, who knew?
I enjoyed the part of the book that included newspaper uses for the fabric sacks. Some sacks even had sewing patterns! It was a time when there was not much money to spend on the household pretties. I didn't live then, but I know sewing took fabric. The pages of patterns of fabric available are fascinating, so many, lots of colors. Did give the farmer an unusual shopping list.

Fascinating reasearch on a very humble subject
This well researched book on the (most likely) little known or appreciated topic of reusable feed sacks, is profusely illustrated. I grew up at a time when feed sacks were used in home decoration and in the creation of wearable items. Sewing things from decorative feed sack fabrics was fairly common in rural USA in the late 1940's and in the early1950's. This book brought back to me nostalgic memories of those days.
