My son suggested that I purchase this and I did. It seems interesting but I didn't really have high hopes for this. It turns out that it works really well for lighting all kinds of stuff. I expected it to work well for lighting gas fire places and grills but it also works great for lighting candles. I have a charcoal grill that I use newspaper to light the charcoal starter and this lighter works really well for lighting the newspaper to start the fire.It comes with a bendable rod which may come in handy for some candles but for the ones I tried it on, just a straight tip works great. Maybe in a month or so when I'm lighting pumpkin candles this might be more useful.It comes with a 1ft micro-usb cable to recharge the unit with. This seemed to work but I've not used it enough yet to really run down the battery. Very straightforward so I don't expect any issues with this.There is also a slide down plate that covers the switch to avoid inadvertently starting the lighter. This in addition to having an on-off switch should help keep this from accidentally causing an issue.It is too early to tell how this will hold up over time but so far I'm quite impressed with how well it works.

Perhaps I was just unlucky with the unit I received but...When I received the unit it appeared to have at least half or more of a charge. The only thing that was odd at this point was that it would only stay lit for 2-3sec instead of the 7sec listed in the description. I chalked this up to low battery so I put it on a charger to fully charge.After removing from the charger it again lit for 2-3sec. I tried to ignite it again and absolutely nothing happened. I don't even hear the sound like it is trying to ignite.On the positive side, the build/finish of the item is higher than expected. The on/off button is a bit flimsy so I would be careful with that. I also wish it had an attached charging port cover to keep dust/debris from entering.For the price I suppose it might be worth it to take your chances on this but I can not recommend due to the performance I saw from the unit I received.

Loved this lighter until the on/off button snapped off after less than a year! Just went to use it today and turn it on and the little switch came right off. It hasn't gotten a ton of use, lighting candles around the house occasionally or using it to burn papers, but definitely not even daily use and we've had it for less than a year. Very disappointed.

It will not hold a charge so unless I charge it daily it is useless. I wish I had tested it sooner so I could return it. As it is it was a complete waste of money.

I've only used this item a handful of times. The second time I attempted to charge it since I got it and it no longer charges. Too bad... It worked pretty well for lighting candles while it lasted.

Buying a regular candle lighter is a lot more cost-efficient and a lot more reliable.This lighter screwed up my daughter's birthday party as we had to make 50 plus guests wait since this candle wouldn't light. I had charged it only two days ago! Don't buy it! Buy a regular from one from Costco or Walmart. A single candle lighter there is only 1 or 2 dollars.

I really have enjoyed this product so far. I like that it came with a charge, and the fact that I will not have to worry about buying a new one when the fluid runs out. I have lit candles, pilot on stove, my husband's cigarettes with ease, the only thing is I wished it stayed on longer than 7 seconds, but it really isnt a big deal to push button again!

Its starts a good charcoal fire. But i wouldnt recommend for cigarettes. Great lighter can start a great fire. It was well needed for our campfires so we dont got to get as close to the fire to start it
