Best Rear Light for Aero Posts
I've had several cygo light products over the years. When I saw this option for my aero bike I bought it right away. My bike has a 2.5" deep post so there are very few options to mount a light directly to the post and still have a bright light. The cygolite hotrod works great on my post and is very bright even in full sun. I ride a lot on highways and this is a great attention getter on the flash setting even in full sun light.Highly recommend!

Excellent, bright, smart design (with one very small flaw)
I've got about a dozen variations of this in what I call the "flasher graveyard" - a box of miscellaneous "tried it but didn't like it" stuff for my cycling habit. This one is the absolute best of them all. Multiple patterns including some soft ones (great for group rides so that you don't blind the rider behind you) and probably visible from the International Space Station. I mean this thing is BRIGHT. Easy to recharge and an indicator that clearly tells you when it's fully charged. One complaint, for which I am removing a star… you have to remove the flasher from the bike in order to charge it and that's a nuisance. The charging port should be on the *side*, not the back, so that you can leave it in the same position and charge it while still mounted to the bike.Other than that this qualifies as the best flasher I've ever used - and if you saw my "flasher graveyard" you'd know that was really saying something.

Best tail light I have found
This is the best rear tail light I have found for bicycle commuting. This light is very bright for its small size. (You could use it as a quick light to find something you dropped on the ground) The angle of visibility for this light is truly broad and will be visible to anyone behind you whether they are directly behind you or to the right or left.Another key thing about this light is that the mount is secure and you don't lose the light. I have lost at least three tail lights when they fell off my bike while riding home in the dark. (Even if you immediately notice that the light fell off, if it is too directional it can still be difficult to find) This light has never felt lose and has never fallen off. (I have been using this for about 2 months now)The final benefit of this light is that it recharges so you don't have to mess with batteries.

The included strap used to connect the strap to the seat post is durable and does a good job of holding the light on the bike
This light is incredibly bright, and there can be no question that the several different flash patterns will be attention getting. The included strap used to connect the strap to the seat post is durable and does a good job of holding the light on the bike. Two things are worth noting: 1) This needs to be recharged more than I thought it would. If I ride several days in a row, the battery will last, and the light will work fine. If I leave the light off for a week or so, it is dead when I go to ride. I've made the habit now of recharging it between every ride, which I did not expect to have to do. 2) The size of this is something of a difficulty. It is about 3 inches high. To get full visibility the light needs to be on the seat post - but depending on your bike setup, you might not have 3 inches of available space on the post. For me, the light fits, barely, the seat bag overlaps the light a small amount, but not enough to worry about. In the end, this light won't likely get the attention of a distracted driver, but it certainly will help me be seen on the road by everyone else. It is a great buy.

Great, except for the popping off my bike part
I really appreciated the light, including all the options for configuring its output. However, the fastener was stubbornly difficult to stay fixed. It popped off multiple times when I was riding. Thee last straw was when I went over a bump and the fastener popped off, leaving the unit to hit the pavement and skitter into oncoming traffic. Two cars ran over it before I recovered its shattered, lifeless corpse.Seriously, the band has no excuse for failing, but fail it did.

Bright, but battery life could be better
Bright, but battery life could be better. I did a metric century and had it on the lowest flash mode, which was supposed to be the longest battery life. At about 5 hours it shut off with a dead battery. I like the weight, and the hidden and protected micro-USB charging port. The rubber strap does a good job keeping the light centered on my seat post.

super bright, effective, reliable, convenient
I have really liked how this light works. It is extremely bright! It has a nice "glowing/pulsing" mode that oscillates gently between half and full brightness, and it will run like that for six hours on a charge. At first I was concerned about the single strap design, but have since come to appreciate that more - I can fit the light on more things more easily with the single strap. You can have this single awesome light, and use it on all your bikes very easily.Very happy with it after almost a year of regular use. I'm never going back to those AA powered blinky's.Update: some taillights claim more "lumens" or brightness. Be careful to look at how that brightness is distributed. Many taillights are indeed very bright, but only in a narrow cone facing directly to the back. The CygoLite Hotrod is remarkable because it is so bright in ALL directions facing to the rear. It appears very bright even when you are looking from the side, approaching from the side of the bike.

Very Bright - Fits any Seat Post.
Extremely light with a powerful - very visible light. Cars typically move to the opposite lane. Charges quickly. The only light that fits my aero seat post. Easy on and off. Like all CygoLite products, excellent design and reliability. There is nothing better at this price point. I use a Dinotte 300r for my other bike. The 300r by comparison is slightly brighter and visible at a greater distance - but not by much. The Hotrod 50 is 1/6th the cost, a fraction of the weight, and it fits just about any seatpost. I like the linear concept for spreading the beam as apposed to round lights. Great product!
