This book will make you an RPI3 power user
This book is completely RAD! It contains information on choosing and installing the right operating system on your RPI3, lessons on wiring your RPI to devices such as switches, motors, and LEDs, detailed step-by-step instructions on creating your own media streaming device to turn your old HDMI TV or monitor into a smart TV that can connect to your home media server, turning your RPI3 into a retro gaming emulator, and even building your own arcade cabinet. This book has way more useful hobbyist information than I imagined, and I never thought that the "purchased together with" section on Amazon would prove so useful. A+

Basic but good!
Basic book, not much depth but still a good starting manual.

Torn
I have to admit to being a little bit torn over how to rate this book. In the end I am going with my first thoughts on the book and why you too may want to buy. This book is short, easy read. I had worries about this being too short or easy, but there is a need for a good introduction that quickly covers the how and why of the Raspberry. The possibilities of these devices are limitless, so getting involved with them needs a good way to evaluate if you want to start in the first place. This book does this. The basics os O/S choices, simple coding, hardware conceptions and general ideas you might like for starting projects. The best I can say is that while I could have liked more information, I got my monies worth.

Don't waste your money
86 pages (barely) of random information that purport to show you how to boot the Pi and run a couple of small examples followed by some generic project ideas and a section on "advanced circuits" typified by how to wire in a motor. The few code examples are undocumented and far too specific to be generally useful. My favorite part of the book was the following set of instructions from the arcade cabinet project, "3. Cut and assemble the rest of the arcade cabinet. 4. Remove any electronics, and either paint or stain the wood. Add clear coat for a smooth surface."If zero stars was an option then that's what I'd give Mr. Short's "book." There are much better sources of information elsewhere. Don't waste your money. I'm returning my copy for a refund.

had I known that (I didn't look) and looked inside at the large font and good amounts of white space
Not enough detail to be considered worthy of a pro. To me, "step by step" implies there would be detail in its pages. It's okay for a beginner but, for the money, it's no bargain. It's only 90 pages and, had I known that (I didn't look) and looked inside at the large font and good amounts of white space, I'd have realized that it was really only fitting for a beginner. Nothing is in-depth, there's no index, etc. So, bottom line, it's okay but, should only be about $5.00.

I like how this book provided a lot of online resources for raspberry. Raspberry is quite new, the book did a really good job to make it easy for readers to understand. If you’re learning how to program, or looking to build new electronic projects, this hands-on guide will show you just how valuable this flexible little platform can be. This book takes you step-by-step through many fun and educational possibilities. Take advantage of several preloaded programming languages. The author has set the contents of this book very well. The simple language has made this book most helpful.

Not much new or original here
Is this worth three bucks? That depends. It's a fairly random collection of information that's easily found for free on the web. It's not comprehensive and it's not even very "step by step" if you want to do anything very useful with a Pi 3. If you're too lazy to find things on the web, or want something to read on that long flight with no WiFi, this might be worth the price. But, for most everyone else, you're probably better off with any number of free Pi resources on the web. Sadly a lot of non-fiction self published e-books, like this one, are just re-hashed information readily available for free in the public domain, poorly compiled into something resembling a book in an attempt to make money. And they often have a lot of highly suspect 5 star reviews from less than credible reviewers.

Not quite Pro, but a great book for Beginners for sure!
I would say this is a good book to get a handle on the Pi 3. Not so sure I would say Beginner to Pro. A great beginner book and can take you to Intermediate at most. Love the GPIO info in here, very helpful.

Not worth it
This is just a basic guide, no beginner to pro as stated, just a quick guide and few code examples

Don't waste your money.
This guy is a hack. The book will not make you a Pro in anyway what so ever. You are better off going to the Offical Raspberry Pi forums and seeking help there or simply do a search on Raspberry Pi beginners tutorial.
