Everything actually works! Including the fire striker! :)
I'm kind of a nerdy mom with these items-- I have to try out the features to convince myself I could actually use it if I had to. The compass points true north on arrival, and the whistle is ear splitting! So, next I tried to make a fire in a small ceramic dish while sitting at my desk, and using the blade and flint! Pleased to report it WORKS! (Without unraveling the paracord bracelet-- a bonus!) I used a quarter sized fluff of dryer lint, rubbed with vaseline, in the ceramic dish, and had a "trick" birthday candle at the ready (along with small tears of paper towel just in case). I selected these items because I have the vaseline lint and trick birthday candle in my "Altoids" glovebox car survival kit. (Lint stored in a sealed drinking straw section-- google it.) Yes, I am a weird mom-- but I used to be a USAF flight crew member, and I like to camp, so that should explain this prepper stuff. Anyway, this striker EASILY produced a spark from the blade on the striker (be careful to use the correct side of the blade--the scooped or serrated edge UP worked best), right onto my vaseline rubbed lint wad. Landing the spark on the vaseline rubbed dryer lint IMMEDIATELY produced a very effective large flame, which I used to light my "trick" birthday candle. I have no doubts I could start a fire with this, given a good dry and/ or greasy wad to strike the spark onto, and dry stuff to feed the fire with! :) Also, I have a large 8" wrist for a woman, and it fits comfortably with extra sliding room.

Cool survival bracelet and nice looking on the wrist.
These are really cool survival bracelets. Good looking for a guy to wear too. Solid product and well worth the money. They came in a nice cardboard box, but there were no instructions included which would have been nice, but I guess it's assumed that it's obvious on how to use - but a newbie might have a bit of trouble figuring out the fire starter apparatus. The compass is adequate for the money paid.

I love this feature because even if I don't have a ...
Functions as advertised. I didn't realize the scraper actually comes out, but it slides back in securely. I love this feature because even if I don't have a knife I can still cut the rope without losing the effectiveness of the bracelet. One of the compasses in my package broke internally and the magnet is stuck, so it no longer points north, so be careful. The fire rod took a good minute of scraping to get deep enough into black overcoat for it to scrape, but once I got there it worked tremendously.Overall I have one fully functional bracelet left, The compass comes out with enough prying and the whistle then becomes functional only when your finger is over the compass hole. I would have preferred to have a solid design for the whistle. I cut the paracord to tie off a machete wrap I was making, and burned the end to keep the bracelet intact. All parts work and perform well in my testing. I like it.

Great customer service
****update March 2017****Sahara Sailor contacted me in response to a concern I had on the product. They offered a replacement at no charge and let me keep the original. The replacements worked and looking forward in using them on my next hike. My honest review, the compass has a slight issue with the metal but doesn't deter me from using and liking all the perks of the rest of the item.**original post**Overall, for the money the paracord and flint work well. Just a tip, the metal piece in the clasp throws off the compass and disrupts the compass when in the closed position as shown in the photos. When the metal is far away from the compass, it works great.

Cool bracelet for Camping, Hiking, or Hunting!
I received my package yesterday with two bracelets inside. Both of the bracelets work perfectly fine and look amazing. If you're a big-boned woman or you got meat on your bones like me, you would need to buy the men's size. The whistle is very loud and high-pitched. I can blow the whsitle while the bracelet is on my wrist, but it is easier to blow the whistle taking the bracelet off.The compass Points North if you level it out and give it a couple of seconds to adjust. One reason why it gets four stars is just after 12 hours of wearing it, there is a scratch on the top of my compass from just everyday use.The Flint works great with a sharp serrated blade on the wrist. If you're new to using Flint to start fires I would suggest practicing with another Flint and blade besides your bracelet. If you're not careful the serrated blade will cut into the plastic of the buckle when trying to use the Flint. After you use your Flint on the bracelet it is hidden Under the Blade of the buckle, so it doesn't show that you have used your Flint.Instructions on how to unravel the bracelet and clean it would have been nice, but that was not included in the packaging. My Dad and I have matching bracelets now. Great gift idea for people who love to go camping, hiking, or hunting.

Great backup for hikers, backpackers, preppers
Great all-in-one hiking/backpacking bracelet. I purchased these initially just for the plastic buckles, I was going to cut and redo the paracord bracelets to fit myself and my wife. At the time, buying the buckles without the paracord was actually more expensive. So I thought why not? When we received the bracelets, they were actually quite comfortable as is, and were made of high quality plastic and paracord. The compass is quite accurate, just make sure the tiny bubble is centered, the whistle is loud and performs well even when wet, and the fire starter throws a decent amount of sparks. Just be sure to strike the rod with the blade angled like this:===========----> /| -----> / |Overall very well priced for 2, and a great backup compass, whistle and firestarter. I do not recomend ever going anywhere with just one of anything.
