DPTOOL Engine Timing Tool Kit for BMW Mini Copper N12 N14 1.4 1.6 N16

Does the job on a 2016 Mini N18 engine. 5 stars for cost-benefit ratio. Had to slightly polish the crank pin holder tool (with emory paper and trans fluid) to make it smooth enough to fit in the hole of the bellhousing. Once that was done, it was a super precise fit to set crank position. On the cam side of things, you pick the adapters that fit (no instructions or labels on the tools). Wasn't hard to figure out. The intake holder was a tight fit but the boss wouldn't go 100% true to the head surface. Close enough with all 3 bolts tightened to about 90in-lb. The exhaust holder went much truer to the head surface but the part that holds the flats of the cam was a bit loose, allowing the cam to rotate back and forth about ½degree. Close enough again. The bolts that come with the kit are junk and their shoulder is too long to use with N18 holders from this kit. They're standard m6 so who cares. I found my own and the job went smoothly. Once finished, I reset the vanos and valvetronic adaptations and it runs like new with no faults.

Excellent alternative to the Schwaben N18 kit. The fitment was precise, and the results were identical, despite the $110 price difference. Engine timing is now 100% accurate. Highly recommended for DIY N18 repairs.

Very nice kit for setting up a Mini Cooper engine for a timing chain replacement. Functions overall very much like the factory tooling. I did make some minor adjustments to the exhaust cam holder to give adequate clearance while the turbo is installed on my N14 engine, hence only 4 stars. But the value for the money can't be beat. Definitely will work for other engines, just only have experience with the N14 engine. Update: I also ended up using it later for an N18 engine in a 2012 Countryman. Worked great with no complaints. I did add a few washers to the center connection as the bolt was longer than the tapped hole.

Tool fit n worked perfectly..no issues at all Some I've had to grind the tool because it wouldn't fit over the cam but this one was perfect out the box
