Finally! A refill that enables me to use my fancy pens but have the quality ink color and smooth glide of the Bic cristal 1.6 bold blue ink I love. So many blue inks are too pale and I keep gping back to my bic plastic cheap pen. Yet I love my beautiful pens like my retro and so this is the perfect refill for ballpoint blue.

So glad I was able to find these fountain pen ink cartridge refills on Amazon! I was gifted a used Retro 51 fountain pen and it was easy to find these refills on Amazon. Tested it out and it works great! The ink is smooth and doesn't bleed through pages.

Retro pens are fun and offer a good writing experience. I previously used rollerball cartridges but decided to try the ballpoint refill, which I prefer. The rollerball leaked once and left a bit of a mess in my purse, so I am biased toward ballpoint pens.

I have a Retro 1951 Tornado pen and was looking for a ballpoint option to the standard rollerball that comes with it. Natural option Was to try the Retro 1951 Easy Flow 9000. Apparently, it is the same refill as the Schmidt Easy flow 9000. Out of the box it wrote very smoothly. But within a day, it started writing with a split line (see photos) - especially when underlining in a book. It is clearly the smoothest ballpoint think I have found. But the split line is unacceptable. I had purchased three refills and all of them did the same thing. So I tried the Schmidt EasyFlow 9000. Apparently, they are made in the same factory. But the Schmidt EasyFlow 9000 did not wright with a split line. It truly is a better ink refill. Maybe I got a bad batch of Retro 1951 EasyFlow refills? Three of them were the same price as 6 of the Schmidt EasyFlow 9000. So, skip the Retro version and go with Schmidt. It is easily the best ballpoint-style refill out there. Very smooth. Doesn’t work well with glossy paper, but for normal paper, it can’t be beat (Schmidt EasyFlow 9000).

Blue ink which is harder to find for some reason.

THE PRODUCT DOES NOT SEEM TO GENUINE. I HAVE BEEN USING RETRO 1951 REFILLS SINCE ALMOST A YEAR NOW. THEY WRITE SO WELL THAT I WENT ON TO BUY SUCH EXPENSIVE REFILLS FROM AMAZON AS I TRUSTED AMAZON WITH THE PRODUCTS THEY SELL. HOWEVR, I WAS VERY DISAPPOINTED. I TRIED TO USE THE REFILL JUST INCASE I WAS NOT WRITING ENOUGH FOR IT TO PERFORM BETTER, BUT IT WAS OF NO USE.

the tip is bulbous for this refill and doesn't fit my tornado 1951 pen ! sucks!
