Great range finder at a good price.
Excellent range finder at a good price. The patriot pack is well worth it for the rubber cover. I previously owned a Bushnell from the 2010 time frame, but it recently quit working. I wasn't too bothered by this as it had been beaten up pretty good over time. I felt like I got my monies worth. This new unit is far superior to the old one. It is much lighter and more compact, and is much faster and easier to get a measurement. I prefer the "upright" design as you can hold it in one hand and get a reading with no issues. The old unit was one that you held in a horizontal position and required two hands. Love the jolt feature that tells you when you have a good reading. As mentioned earlier, the blue cover is a great addition in my mind. It provides additional protection and additional grip. The bright blue is great for spotting the unit. No more leaving it in the cart by accident at the end of the day. If you were to leave it laying in the fairway, etc., it is clearly visible from a distance as well. The cover is also translucent, which I also find to be a good feature. I applied a silver golf club label to the unit itself and this is clearly visible through the cover.

A Precision Laser Rangefinder
I really love the V3. Reason i bought it was because i was tired of using GPS for approach shots near the flagstick. Most of the time i was getting green distance only from my GPS app, that didn’t give me a solid idea of what club to use. I’ve used the V3 twice, and have achieved positive results. The V3 vibrates when you lock onto the pin. This is key when you have shaky hands or if you’ve got a group of trees behind the green. Simply point, activate laser and hold the button until you’ve got the pin in sight, and the V3 lets you know when its got a positive lock with its Jolt technology. On the course i was able to determine pin range at 300 yards fairly easily. Haven’t tried anything further than that, and don’t expect i’ll ever need to. But this one works up to 1000 yards according to the manual. You may need to use a two hand grip to keep it steady for anything over 300. Even most golf cart GPS don't give you accurate range, just an approximation to the front, middle, and back green. Since hole placement changes, it is key to have one of these in your bag. On days where the grounds crew gets creative with pin placement, it can magnify mistakes on approach shots if you don’t have a rangefinder. I noticed this several times when comparing the laser range with the GPS range. Don’t get me wrong, GPS is a very valuable tool and nice when you can get a cart with one. The V3 and GPS are simply an augment to each other. It was a sweet bonus to receive the blue skin cover. It looks great, and appears it will keep my V3 protected from getting beat up. Bottom line is this device is a very simple and accurate device to have in a golf bag. The price is a little steep at $275, but when i looked at other models that were $400-500 the V3 was an easy choice. To me there isn’t much to justify paying over $300 for a laser rangefinder.

Great device
Works well. Locks on the pins quickly and accurately. Compared it head to head on the course with a Leopold GX 3i2.The Bushnell was easier to use and consistently locked on the pins which the GX didn't. The Bushnell would have gotten five stars if it had the form factor of the Leopold GX which is significantly smaller.

One Star
The screen looked liked the numbers were burnt into the screen. Very disappointing.

reg $149 on Amazon shortly after) rangefinder that had good to great reviews from golfers
I started looking for a rangefinder for my daughter looking to make the high school golf team. I'm old school and would march off yardage using the standard markers on the course, but hey, we're in the 21st century, right? I bought a $99 (on sale, reg $149 on Amazon shortly after) rangefinder that had good to great reviews from golfers, but you get what you pay for. There was no image stabilization, therefore, no way to lock on a target. It had 50/50 odds on locking on a flag and I sometimes would have to "spot" objects in front and behind the green and guess at pin yardage. The process was a good 10-15 seconds to make sure you had a good read. I couldn't let my daughter go through tryouts w/ that one. This is obviously more expensive (at ~$250) and justifiably so. A great target window locks with a vibration pulse on the flag within 2-3 seconds. The Nikon option had good reviews as well but this one was voted better. Bottom line; We love this one.

Wonderful !
Works Great. The initial batteries DID NOT LAST. I advise you to get extra batteries ASAP. Mine lasted 2 months. The I got rechargeables and so far that battery has lasted 2 months and I'll just recharge it overnight. Great Rangefinder. I use it on every hole. I play 3 times a week. Helps to know both what club to use and whether I should choke up a bit on the grip.

Compact, accurate, as described
I ordered this to replace my old Bushnell Medalist rangefinder I had used for years that had finally kicked the bucket. Saw this one under the "used" section. It was described "as new" so I went ahead and ordered it. Fast shipping, it arrived in original packaging and looks and works as if brand new! Excellent purchase, excellent product.

My bad - dropped it from about 42"
Worked well for 8 months. My bad - dropped it from about 42". It then had trouble locking onto the pin even with the pinsetter circle showing. Sent it to Bushnell. Their letter indicates 'impact damage beyond repair' and offers to sell me a new one for about the price I paid originally. I think it should be able to take a single 3 1/2 foot fall. Be careful.
