Healey Restoration Paul Chaplin
Workshop ManualDoes what it says on the Can . Its comprehensive, its a maintainance manual not a guide to restorations. It does have good blow up diagrams and a lot of detail on special tools etc Black and white - no colour, mostly engineering sketches and description of parts and methods of assembly and disassembly. Good general info sections , small number of black and white photos, and some good info on Chassis dimensions.

Needed for 1965 Austin Healey Recently Purchased
Reprint of official BMC shop manual. Just what I needed for my first British car. All other classics I've owned were American + one VW/Porsche 356 Replica.

Essential Resource
I am in the process of restoring my Healey. This book is simply essential. You cannot do any kind of comprehensive repair without it.I also own the Haynes Manual and the Autobooks manual. Typically, I review all three manuals and look for discrepancies. It is remarkable how often I find them. Basically, I do not want to get into a repair only to run into a problem. With a 50 year old car, I figure doing it wrong is not only not safe, it might be unfixable. This book is by far the most complete of the manuals available. It can be a little difficult to navigate because it has all the changes over the model cycle. That difficulty is essential because many of our cars have parts from earlier or later versions. If you don't have a manual with the complete cycle, you might not know what you are looking at.It does have limitations. It is clearly written for factory techs, so some explanations are less complete than I need. I find that this book with the Autobooks manual, is enough to get me by most everything. My version is paperback, but it is fairly robust, good quality. That is unlike the Haynes version. The images are good factory exploded view diagrams, which I find most helpful. Just remeber it is written in the King's English, not American English. If you have a Healey, you won't mind that though - I hope.
