Good value for the price, comfortable, stable; not a huge adjustment range.
A professional soloist, orchestral player or music teacher is likely going to use a much more expensive product but for most players this one is perfectly adequate unless you need a greater range of adjustment. The problem of minimal adjustment range is common, however, among even more expensive designs. This shoulder rest gets points for the folding legs which may allow you to fit it into some cases which have pockets. Personally, I use a case designed for two violins which allows me the option of using shoulder rests which have fixed legs and are presumably more stable. However, this product is good enough I just use it anyway, and I save my expensive professional grade shoulder rest for special gigs, auditions and recording sessions. It is important when playing regular gigs, especially at weddings and restaurants and taverns, to have gear which is not super-expensive because, well, stuff happens. Things get lost, broken, stepped on, beer is spilled, what have you. Even at the pro level you need to know that the equipment is up to the task but are not vintage museum pieces or high-priced state-of-the-art bragging pieces that you need to watch like a hawk. This shoulder rest hits the sweet spot as a cost-effective work horse and holds its own against brand name products at the price point. It has the added bonus of quite attractive visual appeal with the high polish wood grain. It is hard not to love this product for what it is, even though it is not what you would expect a modern-day Paganini to be using it outshines its rivals and is hard to beat.

Good value
I have been using this shoulder rest for a few weeks. It has worked well for me, is attractive to look at on my violin, and is a good value for the money.

This works very nicely on a full size violin
I wanted this rest because it is wood. Other rests I have purchased are plastic. The Everest rest is a good plastic rest, but it's about twice as much as this inexpensive wood rest. The overall shape, grips, and foam padding are very similar. On the cheap Chinese made rest I purchased, the plastic deforms and flexes which doesn't feel good, and may result in a less stable grip on the violin. I don't use that one at all. I'm keeping that other junky one because I want the grip pieces to use once I carve my own wooden rest, and it came with a mute and a rosin block that are sold separately for as much I paid. This rest is about the same shape as the Everest, and is very comfortable. It is very secure on my full-sized violin. The grips are a bit stiff, but that's better than if they were too soft. I just have to be extra careful about putting it on. The shape is just right, and the foam pad is of appropriate density and thickness, and is stuck in place without any stray adhesive around the edges. This rest is very nice, but imperfect. I think the tiger stripes are not figured wood but instead sprayed on before final finish, but I don't mind that. Also, there is a small dust speck in the finish that was slightly annoying at first, but I got over it and I haven't reduced my rating at all for the flaw. It really is small. This rest is made of ordinary good materials, has a good finish and is a very good product, considering the price paid. I like it as much as the Everest rest I have on my other violin.

Comfortable and easy to install.
This shoulder rest was easily adjustable to fit different violins and also my personal preference for position and height. The wood finish color happened to match my Cecilio CVN-200 exactly. It is comfortable and stable allowing the violin to stay in position on my shoulder without holding it with my left hand if needed. Using this rest makes my left hand finger work easier because I don't have to grasp the violin neck too hard.

So-so shoulder rest
Nice wood grain body. But just as uncomfortable as all the rest I've wastes money on. Looks nice, but as o what if after 15 minutes of play time or practice it turns out not to be so comfortable

Perfect for me
I'm a beginner, and was having trouble learning, since I was holding my violin with my hand instead of my shoulder/chin. A friend recommended an adjustable shoulder rest, so I gave this one a try. I saw an immediate improvement in playing, can play for longer, and no longer get stiffness in my shoulder and neck. I like that the design is very simple, and so it's easy to adjust the height if I need to, and I can easily switch it between my 3/4 and 4/4 violin. Not to mention, the wood grain pattern is beautiful, and matches both my violins!

Spend a bit more $ and get a decent one
This shoulder rest is very flimsy, does give enough support. Not worth buying at all
