DEWALT20V MAX XR Oscillating Multi-Tool, Variable Speed, Bare Tool Only (DCS356B)

My husband has to have all the tools... and he pretty much does, lol. I got him this for Christmas because it was on his wish list. He loves it, of course, and has many future uses for it. The Dewalt brand is quality, and I would recommend it to anyone.

I used one of these Dewalt oscillating tools on an office remodel earlier this year for fitting new door hinges and handle hardware, as well as slotting some Phillips head screws that someone rounded out during the original installation so I could remove with the blade screwdriver. The tool belonged to the GC and I was so impressed with its multiple uses that I picked up one when they went on sale. So glad I did as I’ve already used it on a couple projects. Love the variable speeds, easy blade installation and adjustable angles of the blades, but there is a learning curve to doing delicate work like retrofitting new door hinges and striker plates, etc. Aside from the wide cutting blade, I picked up the sanding head and assortment of pads. Very impressed with the sanding option, which I had underestimated.In conclusion, I’m very happy with the build and performance of my new Dewalt oscillating unit, which is the true “multi-tool”!

This "DEWALT 20V MAX XR Oscillating Multi-Tool, Variable Speed, Tool Only (DCS356B)" is an excellent tool that you'll find more and more uses for as you go. I use it mainly for making any kind of straight-in cut on a flush surface that would be much trickier for most other kinds of saws (e.g. making a cutout in drywall for an outlet box, or separating apart a wooden stringer glued to plywood without damaging the stringer or the plywood), and also, for sanding in tight corners (with a little triangular sanding adapter I purchased that fits the excellent quick attach mount on this tool). The more I use it, the more I find myself reaching for it on the next project. It's simple and it works great. The battery seems to last plenty long for most the tasks I can imagine using this for (it's not a "high volume" sanding or cutting tool, but for the specialized tasks it does so well, it's perfect).One quibble: It is LOUD, with a very pronounced whine. This is inevitable with the high speed vibration/oscillation it depends on to function, but you will not want to use this at early/late hours when your neighbors are sleeping. Think of a gas-powered weed whip. Not as deep "throaty" of a sound as those revving engines may have, but a similar whine in pitch and volume. If you're going to use it for more than a moment, it's probably smart to don hearing protection, though I don't actually find the volume level painful. It's on par with a high speed random orbital sander, but a little sharper and more pronounced in its whine. Okay, enough said. Now you know.As oscillating multi tools go, this one seems well-built, effective, and ideal for someone who is already invested in the DeWalt 20V Max line of tools like I am. Highly recommended!

The product is very good. No question about.The delivery was very long - almost one month and it came without box.Just wrapped in plastic, which is strange.Never received the devault tools packed this way.

Purchased this tool for one specific job and thought that it wouldn’t be used often, but now find that I use it all the time. Especially like the sanding head. Great for quick sanding of tight or small areas that I wouldn’t have sanded without this tool. Great for cutting in tight areas or for precise cuts. I don’t know how I got along before I owned this tool. Used it today to cut a hose that was frozen on to an exterior faucet. Cut through the hose connector without cutting into the faucet with ease. Great quality that I expect from Dewalt.

I purchased the tool only option. Unit came with a single blade. Compatible with my other DeWalt 20V tools and rechargeable batteries. Purchased a bundled kit of blades with universal rapid exchange interface. Tool offers good balance and control over cutting in a variety of applications. Excellent tool for the DIY'er or professional. Would recommend.
