Very educational Easy to follow

This book is fantastic if you are just getting started with pine needle basketry. The projects that are show are very inspirational and the book is very informative. If you are looking for a book that is full of really cool stitches to try, this is not the book for you. This book will teach you the basics really well, but more intricate designs are not included.

This paper back book, priced at just under $10., has excellent illustrations and photos of in process and completed items. The included photos of gallery items are also an incentive to strive to produce similar items. I gave the book only four stars because I did not find a list of suppliers that would generally be included in similar instruction books, though the table of contents listed page 111 as having "notes about suppliers." There were no such notes; however, I know I can Google the internet for info about supplies, and I shall do so when I need to order supplies. But I,am surprised that such a list is missing from this otherwise helpful book. Perhaps the book is available at this discount price because of this printing error? I live in south Georgia where I am surrounded by long leaf pine trees; thus, I am fortunate to be able to simply take a short walk and gather fallen pine needles by the side of the road. Gourds, sometimes used in pine needle basketry, are also available at a huge gourd farm not too far from where I live. A few years ago I managed to take lessons in pine needle basket making and am looking forward to making some once again; I will probably purchase some fabric dye from the grocery store and will try my hand at making dyed baskets as described in this book.

Excellent book to learn about making pine needle baskets. Starts you out showing you the beginning things you need. Also shows some harder stitches and larger baskets made by other basket artists.

Great book with step by step instructions on how to make a pine needle basket. There’s also wonderful pictures of different types of pine needle baskets. I think beginners and novices alike will learn things from this book.
