Great read. Eyeopener
This read brings clarity to the way we think and challenges us to look at how God feels about us.

Sheds Much Needed Light
I've been blessed by opportunities to hear Dr. Thurman teach and share his wisdom and insights. The first time he said, "We all believe lies," I immediately thought, "What?! No, I do not!" But, he and his book have proven to me - the Truth is - we all believe lies. Every single one of us. It's an on-going, daily struggle to "take our thoughts captive" and something we cannot do without God's help. Dr. Thurman's book illuminates this perfectly. If you're reading these words, if you're breathing, this book is for you. There's at least one lie, if not more (that you don't even realize that you believe) that's holding you back from living a more abundant life, and from experiencing fuller, more rewarding relationships. The content of Dr. Thurman's book is mind transforming. Perspective shifting. Habit altering. Freedom bringing. Burden lifting.

Eye-Opener to Folliwing Jesus Heart, Soul, and Mind
If you are looking for a good, self(only)-help book, look elsewhere. If you were seeking to find and know God better and engage His help, so that HE, through His Holy Spirit, can work through your daily life, then buy 10 of these books AND the companion workbook Why buy 10? If you begin to follow just a couple suggestions in the first two chapters, you will run out of books to share with others who, like me, need the scales removed from my eyes that I may know more fully the Truth... and soundly identify and reject Satan’s lies. Lastly, this book is a clarion call to the frustrated, defeated, struggling Christians to stand up and exercise our spiritual muscles with step-by-step details leading to HIS victory in our daily/hourly lives.

Falls a bit short
Purchased this book hoping to be enlightened with some methods of dealing with stress. It falls a bit short of that in the fact that the author believes that people can shut off emotions at will like a faucet. I have been trying to get a problem solving book showing best methods to deal with lifes problems and this fell short. It does have some words of wisdom and clearly shows that how we view issues will determine how well we cope with them. So it does no harm to read. But it does throw out the enormous complexity of everyday events like dealing with family members or spouses or children. It over simplifies issues like weight gain just saying hey, there is no problem. Perhaps sometimes there is a problem. Just when do we need to do something constructive about an issue? Just to ignore every issue does not make good sense to me. This book would work well for someone like a "spock" from Star Trek if you are a vulcan free of emotions. It preaches basic communication, sacrifice, and understanding, but we already knew all that is good. Overall this book gives good words of wisdom that we already know without any earth shattering discoveries like how to calm down when you are late for a airplane flight and you are sitting in a traffic jam and your due to present your companies sales pitch to clients in the morning. Oh yeah, and your car is overheating and the ac just quit working and you are low on gas (and you really got to go to the bathroom, like now). Hey, just smile and whistle a happy tune, after all it is just how you react to the situation. Yeah, right.....That is when you wish you were Spock and could just beam the heck out of there.

CBT from a Christian Viewpoint
This book was recommended by my therapist. The premise is that many people have a distorted world-view that they are not aware of. The author examines different distortions and counters them with a healthy biblical view.

Outstanding reminder of our identity and worth in Christ!
As a fellow believer in Christ who struggles with keeping an eye on my true worth and identify, Dr Thurman’s book is a blessed piece of work that reminds me of who I am as a child of God based on Biblical truths and challenges the worldly thoughts that the Enemy would love to shackle me by. I would highly recommend this book and it’s Scriptural truths if you need some encouragement to keep running the Race set before us along the bumpy roads of life.

Fraud
I was actually enjoying reading this book until pages 187-8 when the author completely abolished everything he said prior that point. I was truly hoping to learn among other things about how to live in a way that is pleasing to God. Personally I will simply stick to the Bible from now on (like I should have in the first place). To bring his personal political viewpoints into play was purely egotistical and narcissistic. As a non partisan citizen of the United States it is beyond nauseating when people try and force feed their political beliefs on everyone else, and then have the nerve to try and hide behind God. Unfortunately this quack is no different than thousands of other individuals who when the abbreviation Dr. is put in front of their name they literally think they are God.
