Quicker path towards Romanian fluency
I have been learning Romanian for the past eight months and started using this dictionary for the last three months. I am pretty serious in my quest for fluency in this language and this book has really sped that process up. I go through a few pages a day and put the words I don’t have in my vocabulary bank in an app called Anki. I have learned close to new 1,000 words using this method (the past two months). I’m sure if you have more time to study the language you can learn at a quicker pace.I immediately noticed myself being able to understand my Romanian tutors and converse about a wider range of topics. Obviously, the book doesn’t help with your grammar, so sometimes the words will come out jumbled up or with the wrong conjugation, but I am definitely understood. The second thing I noticed was that I was FINALLY able to read books. I’m not talking about any Dostoevsky or anything hahah, but I was at least able to start reading the Harry Potter series.Of course there are downsides. The one that I have found so far is that the words can be taken out of context. I have found myself using words in the wrong context, which thankfully my tutors/friends catch. For example, the word “vechi” means old yes? Well the book tells you it means old, but it doesn’t tell you that it only refers to old THINGS, not people. For which you would use the word “bătrân”. However, I did find a solution. You can go to Reverso (website) and it will help you find the context of the word you are looking for. I recommend using this website when creating flashcards with this book.I highly recommend the book if you are serious about becoming fluent in Romanian.

Truly Lacking Effort
As another reviewer mentioned the ranking of words is strange, ie the verb to plow being the 39th most used word. What's worse is that words are listed without any further principal parts. For instance you get an entry like fată noun girl, marfă noun merchandise with no further information; Romanian nouns have three genders and multiple ways to form the plural, but the book doesn't give you any of that information so you have to go look up the gender and how to form the plural every noun they list. Same is true of the verbs, the book only gives the infinitive but the infinitive alone isn't enough to know how to inflect the verb ie a da, a lucra -> eu dau eu lucrez; there is no way to know that other than memorization, book also doesn't bother giving the past participle which you also are expected to look up. Which is to say you can't just go through the book and form flash cards, you need a seperate dictionary to look up principle parts and inflections and also to double check meanings.

List generated by computer + Automatically translated words.
This is a very misleading book!1) First, the list of words of this book is clearly generated automatically by a computer. I guess from some internet sources. You'll get some words which CAN'T BE the most used Romanian words:For example: 'vad': a ford !!! 'in': flax, 41th most used word... Yeah, sure! 'ara': to plough, 31th most used word... 'curbură': curvature, 100th most used word...This list is ridiculous!2) The translations are clearly automatically generated: Maybe by Google translate or other free softwares. That's evident with a lot of ridiculous translations: 'arma: sheathe' !!! (in fact, it means "to equip") 'sex: sex|persuasion'. What??? etc...Seriously, $40 for this, this is really a rip off.

Aucun regret.
