John Frieda Precision Foam Colour Medium Natural Blonde 8N, 1 Application

I cannot find these in my local stores to have my hair colored so I do use John Frida’s. It is absolutely fantastic. It’s a foam that can be easily applied to your hair. That’s all the product that I use on my hair to color it.

Excellent brand & color more realistic blend than most hair dye brands. Also the foam application much easier to apply.

I have naturally fine long (past shoulders) dark blonde hair and have been using John Frieda Precision foam for at least 5 years. I normally purchase Light Natural Blonde 9N, or Medium Natural Blonde 8N but also tried Extra Light Natural Blonde 10N & Light Ash Blonde 9A. Obviously going for blonde here :) I stuck with medium natural 8N because it actually dose look natural with my pale skin tone and the ease of application is amazing.I could never imagine coloring my hair myself before that but the foam is thick enough where it does not drip and disperses easily & evenly on my hair. I did my hair long and short and I always have left over dye, so no problems there! The medium blonde colors do not smell of peroxide but the lighter ones have pretty string smell (as well as an additional bottle to use). Dye also comes with a conditioner that works well.Summary: The coloring result & the ease of application are it for me. Avid user for 5 years and not likely to switch.

It was fairly easy to use. My hair is naturally curly and absorbed the foam, so it didn’t look like the picture even when if was saturated. It didn’t cover my grays.

I have been through so many different colors, brands, types of hair dyes and this one is now my favorite. I will never use another brand of hair dye. This foam dye is so easy to apply, I can now dye my hair without any assistance. The shade on the box is what you get and it's not patchy at all. The color is very vibrant and makes your hair look even healthier than before the dye. The conditioner that comes with it is a generous amount in a resealable container and made my hair so soft and smell great. I really couldn't believe how simple the whole process was, this really revolutionizes hair dye. And I have to add that this is the first at home hair dye kit I've used that came with gloves that actually fit me! I can't think of a single bad thing to say about this product. I highly recommend it and I have already purchased and used again since my first time. Give it a try, you won't regret it!

I have a love/hate relationship with this stuff, which will be expressed in this review. First, to give you some context as to why I use this junk: I'm 25 years old, I'm a poor grad student, and I'm super self-conscious 'bout my grays, which reside in my large quantity of long thick hair. This stuff, while I have my complaints, is cheap and the color comes out nice. I use this crap about every 3 or 4 months, using a root touch up product about every 3 weeks in between the John Frieda torture sessions.So like I said, I have a LOT of hair. I mean, a lot. This is something hair stylists from all walks of life, ages, and experience always comment on, as if I don't already know. So, I must use TWO boxes of John Frieda. That's just the beginning of my troubles. But the point of this complaint is to let you know that if you have long, thick hair, don't be a dummy and think ONE box will suffice. You must use TWO.Next is the mess factor. This stuff is a mess. And it stains. It might be marketed as "non-drip" but that does not mean it is "non-fling, all over yourself and your bathroom". From past color sessions, I have lovely, permanent dark spots from this dye on my bathroom sink faucet handles, floor, toilet and walls. Armed with the knowledge that this dye is a hot mess, I now take many precautions when I color. I have a special t-shirt that I dedicate to John Frieda hair color sessions. I line my sink with the hair color instructions. I put a towel on the floor. Sometimes. When I remember. Actually I've never done that but I really should. Granted, with my insane quantity of hair, its hard to prevent a mess when dying. But really, the foam just flings everywhere and it is *really* annoying.Oh, and it stinks! It really stinks. Ammonia, for real. My bathroom is not well-ventilated, and sometimes I feel like I'm going to have a fainting spell when I'm coloring my hair. Either that or I feel like I might puke. Its never happened, but, you know, its always a threat.Having said all that, I try to have fun when I color my hair. I listen to music. I use the foam to write things on my head. I put my hair in a big bun on my head and swirl the foam around it and pretend I'm a human cinnamon roll. I consider what I'll write in my Amazon review. At the end of the session, I clip my hair in an 1800's 'do that I don't normally have the opportunity to sport. Then I clean up all the damn foam on my skin, sink, walls, floor, etc, and chill out for a half an hour, writing that Amazon review I dreamed up while dying. Ahem. dyeing. Or coloring, whatever.I actually dread using this stuff for the above reasons, but like I said, I like the even color that it delivers and I'm too chicken to try anything else. However, if you know of a better hair dye for thick-haired freaks like me, please do let me know, and I hope you found this review balanced, honest, and helpful.

I've never colored my hair before this. This is pretty straight forward and did not do anything weird/crazy to my hair. Since I am new to this, I moved pretty slowly in getting everything on my hair and that wasn't great. The last places I put the solution on were not lightened as much as the first (but they were under so looks fine).I was trying to hide the color difference between my professional highlights and my natural hair color so I chose dark blond. This did not make my highlights platinum but did lighten my roots correctly to blend everything together. In a month or so, I will try this again and pre-section my hair with clips to help speed up my application to the root area.For medium brown hair, the dark blonde works well, lightens everything up without being orange. It comes with great conditioner which helps moisturize your hair back to softness if you use several times after the coloring.
