I thought this was going to be actual stencils that I could use. They are beautiful photos, but unuseable for what I needed

Great resource book.

This is a quality compilation of 100 royalty free Japanese stencil designs that were originally published in German in 1895. The images are very clear and crisp and include stencils of carp, cranes, flowers, trees, leaves, dragons, bamboo, butterflies, lobsters and some abstract designs. The book will definitely be useful for those interested in the fiber arts stenciling, and it will have other applications as well.

This is should not be called a Stencil Design book because of the blurring of the drawings. There are far too many pencil lines and cross hatching to actually enjoy the artwork. It is an extremely disappointing and uninspiring book and I would emphasize that it should not be purchased if there is no other alternative that you can find.
