SIMPATCH Adhesive Patch for Dexcom G6 - Brown

Worth it for the peace of mind!
I recently started using the Freestyle Libre, but I had no idea how stressful it would actually be. For the first 10 days, my blood sugar probably increased 100% just because of how stressed and panicked I was that the sensor was going to fall off. This worry came about just with normal everyday life, especially in TX with the insane heat and heat-induced sweat, but intensified whenever I had to shower, if it rained outside, and even with just going to bed.I started looking for solutions everywhere, as I refused to go back to constant finger pricks, but knew I'd have to if I couldn't make the Freestyle Libre work. I eventually ended up living life with one of those bandages that sticks to itself around my arm, nearly cutting off my circulation and probably messing up my readings, for most of the week. It gave me a bit more peace of mind when it came to the sensor, but was painful and expensive over time. I couldn't imagine having to pay upwards of $10 a week just to make sure my sensor stays on.Once I was thoroughly frustrated and reconsidering my choice of using the Freestyle Libre, I discovered a bunch of websites selling patches that go over your sensor. It was the perfect idea, however all of these places were selling them for around $3-5 a patch individually AND they would be coming from either Canada or Australia. Not only would the price increase because of exchange rates, but the shipping cost would be astronomical since these were small businesses having to ship internationally, and the shipping time wouldn't work for me with the end of my 10 days approaching fast. For some reason, I didn't look on Amazon until the last second. Lo and behold, Simpatch to the rescue! It again seemed perfect (spoiler alert: it is perfect): nearly all 4 and 5 star reviews, a 3 month supply at ~$1 patch couldn't be beat, AND they had actual colors. (To be honest, I was and still am a little self conscious about my sensor being visible in public, but at least with a colored one I can pretend it's a fashion statement!) Oh, and Prime shipping, of course! So it was an instant buy for me.Now onto my experience with the product. The first night I had it on, I had the best sleep I'd had that week. I think I might've woken up once throughout the night to do a frantic check to make sure the sensor was still attached to my body, but as soon as I felt the patch there, I was instantly back asleep. Even if this product didn't work, which it does, it would honestly be worth it for me JUST for the peace of mind I now feel. These things are INSANELY sticky, so you'll want to make sure you put it on one side at a time. That said, once it's on, that thing is on for the long haul. I freak out every time I have to remove my sensor, but the stickers are now harder to remove than the sensors themselves! This is a good thing because 1) It really means that those patches aren't falling off, 2) It means that those patches aren't going to let your sensor fall off, and 3) It distracts me from thinking about the sensor coming out, and they usually come off together, so it's 2-in-1!FINAL THOUGHTS: If you're new to the Freestyle Libre, get these patches. If you've had the Freestyle Libre for a while now, get these patches. If you're worried that your sensor's going to fall off, get these patches. If you want to ensure that you get your full wear out of your sensors, get these patches. Heck, even if you're kinda weird and want to wear a circular patch as an accessory, get these patches! These patches are a great buy, they're well made, and they're a great price for the number of patches you receive. I know that I will be a buyer of these patches until I stop using the Freestyle Libre, which I don't see happening for quite a while now that I've discovered these as a solution.

They came next day which was handy since my sensor was coming loose.
I looked at where my sensor was located ( back of my upper arm and decided no way I can place this on it by myself. ( thought it would be thicker and more rigid) Then out of curiosity went looking to see if there were covers for them. I found a few expensive covers on Amazon and when looking at a 3D printer site since I own a printer found one that will work. I think links do not work so go to thingiverse and search for freestyle libre covers if you can print 3d objects in TPU. I printed the one that they said works with the Simpatch and was able to place it on the back of the arm easily. And since it covers the sensor it will be easier to remove the Simpatch without taking the sensor with it. As for the Simpatch it seems to be stuck on good to my arm. If it gives me a problem I will revisit this review but so far all seems well. And the Sensor should stay on the remaining 3 days. Since I have 30 of them and only plan to use them if the sensor is coming loose hopefully these will last me for some time.Been using them for a year and now stick them on the sensor in the beginning. I lost a few sensors to seatbelts, door frames and such and this keep them stuck on me. By day 10 they are starting to look a bit tattered . If the edges start to lift a small amount of Skin-Tac rubbed on the edge glues them back down. I bought a bottle of it as it too is now part of my kit.

UPDATES -- GREAT for the Libre sensor!!
UPDATE: From the Libre website: If the sensor falls off early, please call Freestyle Libre at 1-855-632-8658, and they will replace it. But hang onto the box!!UPDATE: Works well applied to the stomach area too! Less chance of getting knocked out of place! These are great for the Freestyle Libre sensor!! Be careful when putting on. I do it in front a mirror or have someone help me. If a little bit sticks on the sensor itself, that's fine...actually helps hold in place even longer (especially if you're like me and sometimes hit it in a doorway or something else that it can knock it loose. If you get it stuck on the sensor and try to pull it off to replace it, be sure and hold the sensor itself in place so it doesn't come off also! I sometimes have to change my midway through the 14 day life of the sensor, just because the edges are starting to come up...probably just from showering. All in all, I'm very happy with these. Before these, I had a sensor come out at 3 days!! Then another at about a week!! Really can't afford to have that happen, so I'm very happy I found these!! ALSO, I just found this out at my endocrinologist's office yesterday...I was told if the sensor comes off before the 14 days, you can just send the company the box the sensor & application kit came in, and they will send you another!! Free of charge!! Of course, that means remembering not to recycle or trash the box!! I don't know the specifics of where to send the box, but I'm sure it's probably on the Freestyle Libre website somewhere. This is great news!! ALSO, I was told by my endocrinologist that the sensor CAN be placed on your stomach area, if you prefer! She said the box says back of arms only because the stomach application was not FDA approved but works the same exact way!! Just wanted to share!!

Once you stick it … It stays there!
I’ve tried almost every patch out there and this one is one of the few that stays on my arm for the whole 14 days. Don’t quite understand why there’s a hole for the sensor to stick through… seems like an area for the sensor to get ripped out. That said, my patch kept it on despite catching it on a door frame. The picture included here was taken at the end of 14 days.

Not worth it
I bought these so that every time I would Bang my sensor it wouldn't come off ,however with the hole in the middle, it doesn't stop that from happening, better off to get the clear plastic that covers the whole sensor

Great patches
So I always come back to sim patch one the price value for amount of patches is great even if a patch falls off every now and then cause of sweat I have lots of back up patches. The color is nice. I do wish they came in a rainbow bag with all the colors so you could play a game of which color will it be. Anyway the patch holds well. I have sensitive skin and it doesn't bother me.
