This light is exactly what I needed! I paint glasses, vases, dishes, mugs, etc. for a living and proper lighting is essential. Some lights cause eye fatigue, but this light casts a very bright beam that does not bounce off the glass. The goose neck allows me to easily and quickly adjust where the beam is too. Working with paints means I need to be able to work quickly, so being able to adjust the light rapidly and accurately is extremely helpful. The base is heavy, so the lamp stays put. You do need to make sure the light is bent over the base so the lamp does not fall over, but once I got the lamp situated over my work table (which took all of about 10 seconds) I have had zippy doo dah issues with the lamp tipping. I have never worked with a magnifying glass before. I will admit it took some getting used to, but now I can't live without it. It has allowed me to get more precise with my painting. The magnifying glass on this light is very clear and large too. I have looked at other magnifying lights before purchasing this one, but the magnifying glass was either small or distorted the image so much that it was worthless. Like everything else about this light, it is perfect for my needs. I have gone through many work lights over the years, and I was skeptical about buying a light at this price point as many of the lights I have rejected or broke quite quickly were a LOT more expensive. I took a chance on this one because I had a large order to get out and I could get this light quickly. Although I have only had it a few weeks, so far, it has been EXACTLY what I need. Speaking of getting it quickly, I am a Prime member so I could get this within 2 business days for free or pay a bit more and get it the next day. I opted to go with the free shipping. Much to my surprise, the light was delivered the next day anyways!!!! As for the assembly, it was 2 screws, a bit of tightening, and plugging it in. I had the light together in about 2 minutes - easy peasy lemon squeezy. Honestly, this entire purchase was FLAWLESS. If you are looking for a task light, I highly recommend this one.

I was very worried about this product. I read all the reviews on this one and several others. I ordered this because it said it has 60 LED lights then I thought it might be too bright. When I got the magnifyer I was very impressed on how heavy the base was. I have sevearl dogs and did not want them to knock it over. No way that will happen! It slides easily on the carpet so it's not hard to move around despite the weight of it. Some people said it's too tall but I have a reclining chair which is not real high off the ground. I'm 5 ft 4 inches and my feet touch the floor! I was able to bend the flexible arm (it's a bit stiff but I like that becuase it does not just fall down and stays where you put it) at about a 90 degree angle then made a slight dip (like an U shape) more towards the magnifier end. Now it's short of a slight S shape which works perfectly. I can swing the magnifier away when I am not using it so I can easily get up out of the chair. The magnification itself is wonderful. I wear glasses and can use both at the same time. It's very clear and makes cross stitching so much more enjoyable now that I can see what I am doing! Back to the LED lights. The description says 60 LED lights but I counted only 42. The description should be changed but even so the light is quite bright. As someone else said it takes a second or two for your eyes to adjust to it but I am VERY glad I bought this instead of the ones with less lights. I have a feeling my husband is going to steel it once he tries it. I would recommend this to anyone who does cross stitching or any sort of needle point. It would probably be good for reading also and other small crafty things. I absolutely love it!

After counting that I had six hand held magnifying glasses (some with lights) - and hearing an optometrist tell me that drugstore reading glasses now days were "the thing" or "progressives" in prescription glasses - I read about optics (which I have dozens of times) and finally decided to purchase this since it seems mostly five stars by most people who go to the trouble and expense to buy something best. One of the first things I noticed (I've had a mild eye infection that comes and goes that the optometrists have told me is pollen/pollution/dry eyes/blepharitis) - is that my eye glass frames I wear for long distances trap dirt and particles of different colors and even eye lash hairs. And I do clean these daily with the same sort of wipes that people who are particular about optics use (not a rag attached to a shirt pocket). Also - I noted the coatings that were on my glasses which by the way were the very expensive variety from Ophthalmology and Optometry assessments - the coatings are (were supposed to be non scratch) - scratched or nicked or bubbled. And - I had been making "flash cards" - grew frustrating because the molecular weights of some chemicals in a list did not make "logical sense" - to find that they do make sense - but even though I was using a hand held card to stay on the correct line with the other hand a pen - and then having to find a "third hand" way to magnify (I have a little weighted stand with a magnifying glass on it - I had skipped a line and so - written on the card the wrong thing. A larger card was not the solution - because I am studying medications that a pharmacist would counsel people about - and so if the normal human already has the "package insert" because all the writing on the bottle is too small and crowded to read (did I mention that I once was told I wrote a not so great brochure on some medications because it was too detailed and "busy" for a normal person to read and thus frustrating and so no one would ever read it?). This works. And - my whole life I have been told that I "hunch" over books and that I need to sit up straight and wear my glasses (a maneuver which never worked and one very smart academic ophthalmologist a long time ago told me it never would work so not to worry about it) and they would work but I had to "get used to them" - by the way - progressive lenses never work for me though I could wear the things - only good thing I can say about them is that once they probably saved my eye from damage from something a pair of wire cutters flicked off - because the frame was damaged by the high velocity particle. Like having to choose big double plates of lightweight (costly) lenses - to not work. More reasons this is great: Easy to sit down and adjust over a page - on a spring that is not wimpy (I do have other lights on goose necks and found some not useful because of the rotation or the springs - and be careful about lights on clamps as they can be difficult to adjust or the clamp too small for your table or the table edge in the way of your books... Just save your money and buy this from the start - I can scan the top of the chart for the headings - the side for the scale - the other sides and bottoms for scales - the annotations at the bottom for explanations of what the abbreviations mean - likely a lot faster than someone who can't figure out how to ask an app for what they need to understand overall to make it all logical. And - to see if there is a "P" value to a statistical chart or to find "what the heck" that is. The cord seems to be magnetized or pulls out easily from the lamp - so will pull out of the lamp if for some reason there is a problem and someone runs into it (something I always liked in a lamp or computer). I also was finally able to see what that little friable stuff was under my nails (I was sick for a little while and that area of my nail bed has been growing out - it is a little discolored - but I could not clean it out very nicely because I could not see to scrape just the nail underside and not the tender skin where the nail meets the nail bed. I just was able to do so - and it made me so happy that I decided to stop and write the review. I also probably will do some toe nail work - but I have a great deal to do and like to "space it out". I also bought a new hand held lighted magnifier of optical quality - because I noted that some crafters lights have also an insert that adds an extra magnifying ability in a spot area. So - I can't figure out diopters and things like that - but I can add (already easily found this) - the new hand held with this and increase my magnification. I was thinking that I needed (as I am studying to take a test to try to get into Pharmacy School) to solve this problem because I was reading that there were many things written on medication bottles that a Pharmacist needs to be able to see - if a person brings in their own bottle to get their prescription refilled or transferred. My father was a Pharmacist (among other things) and I think he would have very much liked or needed this light - as when he aged he had to get reading glasses. So - I know this is not a "disability" - but if I were an intern or a pharmacy technician - I think I would find more "success" if I bought another one and took it to work with me. I bought the new "hand held" because it would cover "a page" of one of the common Pharmacist medication references and fit in my pocket - but of course that is convenient and an extra help - but the two together I think are even best for that sort of work. So I am pretty happy about all this - I will review the hand held new one here on Amazon too - as I found it hear too - and possibly I bought them in a bundle. I do want to add that I have been a student in medical places - among other later medical "technician" spots as the "medical managers in the administration" often group large amounts of people who go to work in a hospital: The students usually do not have - or have to wait which they cannot do as they are expected to do much in a short amount of time - access to the computer screens or the useful things such as this piece of equipment would become - and also they (student) parking is usually the farthest from the building. Usually do not have lockers or safe places to leave equipment - so a hand held one on a hand held stand of some sort - will always be needed. Usually in Intensive care areas - people are told to not bring or use cell phones or smart phones as these can interfere with the medical equipment. So - be careful about buying high tech before you know if you can use it - or if it will get stolen pretty quickly - though of course that is frustrating because you have to practice and understand the high tech. ones (and do not believe that anyone will care about high tech. logic on settings and such - in an intensive care if they see you "take out a device" that you are not supposed to use - they do not mean set it so you can use it - they mean "You broke a rule".

4 Stars with Reservations I like this light. It is great for helping me with my cross stitch, applique and hand work. It is seriously good. For that, I would give it 5+ stars. However, my reservations are that the light has some stability issues. I have a hand weight on the base of my light. The other issue is when you pull the light over your work, it wants to move away. No matter how much I have the hubby work on it, it has trouble staying where placed. As a stitcher or anybody else would imagine, this light needs to be over the top of the work in order to provide light and magnification. When you need to turn your work to tie off a thread or to get up from your chair, you need to be able to move the light. Then when you are ready to resume stitching, rotate the light back to over the work area. This light just doesn't want to do that and remain where placed. I have recommended the light to others in my stitching group for the great magnification and light (older eyes here). For my purposes, it is a fantastic tool. Just be prepared to do some serious tweaking to keep it where you want it. Oh, for all those out there asking, yes, the light is on a level floor. Additionally, if you are in a recliner, it is difficult to get the light to the middle of your work. The lamp base is large and the base of the chair will prevent the light base from sliding under the chair. This will keep the light from being over the center of your work. Since my chair needs replacement, I will not be getting a rocker/recliner to replace it but a stationary chair that allows me to put the base under the side.​ I need the light closer more than I need to recline. Other than the issues I have written, the light is great. Just know you will have to tweak with the placement of the light.

I bought this mostly for doing beaded needle work and jigsaw puzzles. I'm avid about reading reviews before I buy something and got a kick out of the lady who said her husband had taken over her lamp for his projects. I thought it was really funny until I caught my partner checking out my lamp -- he was impressed with the magnification and the light. The light is very bright but very easy on my eyes. The magnification is great for working with small beaded projects. You would need to be in the right kind of seat/chair for the magnifying part to work correctly. Most of our furniture and the arrangement makes that awkward, but I will figure it out when I get out my needle point project. I'm am so thrilled to find this lamp. Between vision changes and aging, it's wonderful that I can now do the crafts I love so much. As many reviewers said, the base of this lamp is heavy which makes it very sturdy for swiveling the lamp around. While that part is good, it makes it a bit awkward to move from room to room. Because I want to use it between the living room any my craft room/office, I'm thinking about getting a small wheeled stand to make it easier to move it about. It was very easy to put together. The one thing the instructions did not point out the twist lock between the upper metal arm and the white part of the base. Maybe I'm slow, but it took a while to figure out that turning that white piece of plastic provided the tension needed to keep the upper part of the light from swiveling willynilly while I was trying to do some bead work. Even if you don't need magnification for projects, I would recommend the lamp for the incredible light. Thanks to the many reviewers who helped me choose this product. Lastly, the Brightech company contacted me by email soon after I brought the lamp to insure that I was happy with the product. It's really nice to buy from a company who cares about the quality of their product and the satisfaction of the consumers who buy it.

Sturdy build, sufficient weight in the base for stability, gooseneck maintains position, this is a great light for my wife to crochet in bed.

To the sellers of the Brightech LightView Pro LED Magnifying Floor Lamp: I purchased the lamp for my 97 year old mother who is in assisted living. Her eyesight is failing, and she has had problems reading. I have tried a number of hand-held magnifying glasses, but with the arthritis in her fingers and the difficulty of holding a book and a magnifying glass at the same time, she despaired of being able to read again. She is one of the most alert of the clients at her assisted living facility so this has been depressing for her. She has also had to all but give up on reading email on the computer because of her vision problems. So the other day I presented her with the Brightech lamp. We set it up beside her couch near her computer. The lamp can be swung over the couch for reading or moved to the front of her computer screen. Once we got it set up, we gave it a try. I only wish you could have been there to see the expression on her face and hear the joy in her voice. We were both amazed. The lamp performed exactly as promised, and my Mom is able to read books again as well as read her computer screen. She has expressed her delight to me every day since the purchase. Finally, she has been given back the ability to read and continue exploring the world through books and the internet. Oh my, you have no idea how happy she this has made her. It's also a burden off me because I felt so sorry for her. I was working with a lawyer yesterday who recently hired a vision impaired associate. I told him about the lamp, and he is going to purchase one for his associate to further accommodate her vision challenges. So you see, the product sells itself. The lamp is well-constructed, sturdy, and easy to set-up. You can tell it's made from quality materials, and the light is magnificently bright. It's just a wonderful lamp. The price is affordable and well worth it. So thank-you so much for designing and manufacturing this great product. I bought this floor lamp in December 2017, and it’s worked well overall. The base is heavy, which helps prevent the lamp from tipping. However, the lamp head is quite heavy, and over time the gooseneck starts to droop and won’t stay in position. I’ve tried bending the gooseneck back to counteract the drooping, which usually helps temporarily, but it has now led the light to flicker on and off.

Purchased for my mother who has AMD. She is thrilled with it. She just needs to remember to use it. Only fault was it arrived with USA plug do we had to purchase an adapter

Took a while to get through customs. All arrived . Well packed. Just remember you need a UK plug converter. The plug it comes with is US two pin and is large . I waited till the item came before ordering one.

The lamp arrived late, having been shipped from the USA. It is designed to work on 120v power, not 240v, and has a US plug on it. This is not stated on the product listing or details. A 120v adapter costs about £10-15, which the seller reluctantly agreed to pay for. Once plugged in, it ran for about two hours before failing. When I asked for a return to the seller I was given a return label to send it back to the USA, which is hardly environmentally friendly as they will almost certainly scrap it on arrival. In the plus side, it’s well made, sturdy and attractive, although my wife found the magnification a little strong for the sewing she wanted to use it for. Additional information:- Having returned the lamp as stated above, I then waited three weeks, and still hadn’t got a credit note for it. I eventually got a credit by phoning Amazon and making a claim on their A-Z guarantee system. I note the lamp is still for sale in the UK, and STILL has no reference that it is 120v. This is NOT a supplier I will be dealing with again!
