Been in love with Debbie Harry and Blondie since I was nine years old. Great book to have

This is a book of classic rock photographer Mick Rock on this time his photos of God herself- Debbie Harry. It starts in the early part of Blondie's career- 1974 and goes up to 2003 with the main focus being 1978-1980 which were that main part of Debbie's career with Blondie the first time around. You get some never before shots and some that are famous. The cover of the Book was a shot taken for Bob Guccione's Viva but later was the cover of February 1980's Penthouse magazine. Awesome stuff. The newer pictures show Debbie looking as glamourous as ever. Check out the dvd- but be careful when taking the dvd out not to unglue the holder it comes with from the book. The dvd runs around 21 minutes and is basically an interview with Mick Rock about the pictures and some with the 2003 photo shoot with Debbie . Also fun to watch is the fact that Debbie curses on this dvd and when Mick curses all his stuff is bleeped out. A great book of photos and a fun dvd to go with it. A++++.

I was more than impressed when I first looked through this book. Included are countless pictures, all stunning and gorgeous, of Deborah Harry from her many photo sessions with Mick Rock. I never knew many of these photos existed because I had never seen them before, almost as if Mick himself saved many of the photos and figured he could release them some 25 years later when the blonde from Blondie becomes an icon symbolizing image and beauty. He was right. Deborah Harry is the most beautiful woman in music history and the pictures contained within this book prove that she is a natural in front of the camera. Would there be a Madonna without her? Hardly. Gwen Stefani? Unlikely. Touched by her Presence? Absolutely.

I was once told by a graphologist that you can't tell the real character of a person by their signature. It just shows how they want the world to perceive them. That's the way I feel about commercial photography. But in this case it's the photographer who wants the world to see his subject(s) as "he" wants them to be seen. Myself being a novice I like to shoot people as they are, people, not "glorified mannequins". Now I know that Mick Rock was shooting Blondie for a stylish magazine and that's what they want and he gave it to them. But I'm sure he'd have some spare time to take more personel pictures of the "gang". Or even published them as a second book. That would've been nice. I do like his narrative though. He's very funny about how he describe his antics; problems shooting the band and his tragic affair with drugs that landed him in the hospital. Surprisingly what I liked best about the book is his vocabulary I learnt some pretty nifty words (they have snob appeal). Overall I do really like this publication for it's pix of Debbie the bright colors and its glossyness .

Bought this as a gift for my mom so I haven't read it or anything, but it came in great condition and is larger in size than expected. I did flip through a bit and the photos look great, I'm sure she'll be pleased :)

There are a lot of nice photos of Debbie Harry and the band Blondie.There is also some nice reading about the band.If your a fan, get this book.
