National Geographic Traveler: Australia, 6th Edition

The best guide for Australia by far. The book is compact and focuses on experiences. It assumes you have internet and can find your own hotels and restaurants (there are actually some recommendations in the very back but it avoids hundreds of pages of outdated bloat of dubious accuracy). Australia is huge and planning can be overwhelming. Thankfully because this book is concise and focuses on "do not miss" sights and interesting things to do, including detailed recommended scenic driving routes and city walks, it was easy to build an itinerary and we had an outstanding trip. This was my first time using a Nat Geo book (primarily a Rick Steves traveler or Lonely Planet if very very very desperate) and I will definitely use them as the go-to books in the future.

This is a really nice guide book. I am planning our honey moon to Australia, and this book has been very helpful so far. It is the first Australia book I bought. The pictures are beautiful! There is also a lot of history about Australia which really helps set the mood for your trip. The book also describes the wildlife and tips on being respectful to the environment which I always appreciate. There are several recommended itineraries based on how long you will be traveling. This is very helpful when making your initial travel outline. Definitely recommend. (Of note, I travel quite a bit- several international trips a year, and I always buy a guide book, so this is comparing it to many other guide books to many other countries). Hope this is helpful!

I used this book last year for our trip to AU. It is not good for primary info but is a nice supplement. Only wished I had also purchased National Geographics map of AU. We're going to NZ this year and I bought the NG map. Very good purchase.

Bought it for a gift. But, upon doing through it before I wrapped it, it looked informative. I’d use it if I ever travel.

The content seems good but when I opened the hotels and restaurants section the pages fell out.

This and the Frommers are both great guides to visiting Australia. Discusses information you need on hotels, food, and attractions, as well as custom and legal information you need when visiting the country.

Good size well made great information.

This product is very inclusive but the print is smaller than could be read by anyone over 40. The need to use a magnifying glass will mean that it may not be usable once we start our trip. Too bad, a larger book with just a bit large print would be a more useful in the field tool.

One of the best overall books on Australia that is detailed and compact.
