Britannia - Series 1 and 2 Box Set [DVD]

THIS IS A GOOD SERIES BU NOT TO HISTORICAL

Perhaps it's David Morrissey finally having the chance to play the full on subversive (complete with leather skirt)? Or Mackenzie Crooks star turn(s) as the Veran and Harka. Perhaps it's Nikolaj Lie Kaas' 'Divis' and his 'blind leading the blind' portrayal of a spirit guide so out of his depth, he has to have the plot explained to him at every turn. Who knows. My one complaint (hence the four stars) it's that the girl ('chosen one,' Cate?), isn't the best actress and her shouty rants can become rather irritating, overshadowing an otherwise strong cast.

Delivered quickly. I've only watched the first disc (3 episodes) but it is much better than I expected. I have been in two minds over buying this because of seeing poor reviews (not necessarily on Amazon). But I am interested in this part of British history, and I am a practising Druid (oh yes, they great!). So, yes. I really like it. If you are fan of similar series such as The Last Kingdom, Vikings, or The Curse, you've got to add this to your collection. Gruesome, gritty, sexy, funny, great fighting.

I was not sure of this when I saw adverts for it on Sky, but I was looking for box sets to watch and this was cheap. After watching it I would recommend anyone to watch it. It is like GoT but on magic mushrooms, and the music gives it more of a 70s vibe. I watched it purely for entertainment value and not historical accuracy, and for entertainment it certainly delivered.

Absolutely mad - nothing to do with history - but great entertainment. If you like Romans and Druids and quasi-mystical stuff, you should enjoy watching this.

If you expect a tv series to be historicaly accurate don't bother watching tv because it doesnt exist. This make no pretence to be accurate and is the better for it. It's offbeat and freaky, just as it should be. Anyone who expects to understand the mindset of people living 1500 years ago is fooling themselves. Yes they would have been just like us - which comes across, but also totally alien, which is also very evident. This is a fabulous , bawdy, filthy, rumbustous trip!

Good story.
