Having fitted this to my VW (and drilled holes to mount it, sadly) on hooking it up, I noticed that while adjusting it I would get sparks from the spring and hook when taking it on and off the metal bracket it was attached to (whilst holding the plunger in so it was in the switched position. Rather than the switch itself being electrically inert, the live current is not only able to pass into the second wire of the switch, but also it passes into the switch plunger and therefore the spring and to earth into the body bracket. You're thinking this is ok if you are using earth switching anyway, but the current draw quickly burns out your fuse as it's not just your light filaments drawing current, but also the short to the body. As it's been fitted and bound up in tape, I can't really return it. Note: if you only have a plastic bracket to hook this onto so it can't get to earth, you might get away with it.
