Timmy Failure: Mistakes Were Made Review: The latest reason why I'm about to buy a segway...or a polar bear. - Okay, so let me begin by mentioning my age and my interest in reading this book. I'm 24 and about a year off from being the greatest elementary teacher the world has ever seen! This past year or so I've been reading books to stock my classroom library with for my students to read. Also, to note, I've just become an avid reader and the only books of interest at the moment are the ones I will one day have available for my students. Okay, now for the review. I absolutely refuse to sugarcoat this review but this book was three parts incredible and twelve parts amazing. The characters were enjoyable, the writing was clever and comical, and the storyline was stellar. This was a book that anyone with a good sense of humor will enjoy at any age. One of the more cohesive aspects, to me, was the dialogue. I found it overwhelmingly believable, even if Timmy sometimes spoke to an intellectual level that would normally seem a little out of reach for his age--it was his character that made it believable and subsequently hilarious. Even though the main rivalry in the book seems a bit one-sided, Timmy more than makes up for it by his most astute observations. He also makes up for the antics of his polar bear partner who seems to get in the way more often than he helps. Timmy Failure is quickly on his path to greatness, though he would probably argue he's already most of the way there. In all honesty, this book made me laugh out loud on a consistent basis. I simply could not put it down. And it's because of all these reasons that Timmy Failure: Mistakes Were Made is the most exciting series I've ever cracked into and even though I do not know when book No. 2 will be written/made available to the general public, it will be all I desire until I can have it. As a future teacher, and hopefully a future parent, this book is not only great for entertaining children of all ages, it's also loaded with tremendous potential for engaging mini-lessons that students will enjoy doing! Review: TIMMY FAILURE IS THE BEST - If you want a funny book, try Timmy Failure! The best book I read on Kindle, kid-friendly as well! Read it

Great books for young boys
My son loves these books! He’s 8 and this keeps him reading.

Typical Pastis humor, but for the little ones.
I love Pearls before Swine. I love the sarcasm in it and the satire. Now Mr. Pastis has moved on to childrens literature, so just how good is it? Personally, I think it is still geared more to adults than children. Much of the satire in this book will probably be missed by most kids but is very funny to the adult reading it to them. Timmy is truly a failure....we think. In the end, is he? Well, I'll let you decide. He's obviously a little boy who likes living in his own world and it creates some very funny situations. All I'm going to say is we all hate the Bowling Turkey. Period. If you like Pearls, you will like this book. I'm an adult (according to age), but love simple humor and this book is full of it. You will love it if you are a Pastis fan. Four stars only because I'm not sure it is really a kids book. Nothing harmful, I just think the humor is a bit mature....nothing "bad"....just maybe over lots of kids heads? I can't say for sure because it has been a heck of a long time since I was a kid. Buy it, laugh at it (you will) and let your kid read it or read it with them, and see if they get it. Well worth the $15 or whatever to make Mr. Pastis even richer than he is.

Highly Recommended!
This is a great book for boys. We've read pretty much everything and Timmy is right up there with Captain Underpants and Magic Treehouse. My son loved Timmy, loved Total, and laughed hysterically at the words "Weevil Bun" every time he read them. When we finished the book, my son asked "When can we get the next one?" Which, in boy-speak, is the highest compliment one can bestow on reading material. My son has a best friend whose parents have recently divorced, so this book also provided a platform for discussion of what it means to be a single parent, how life can change sometimes and how we have to make the best of it. The Bowling Turkey's stupid car tricks also gave us a chance to talk about car safety and how grown-ups can be wrong sometimes. I have to say that this book grabbed my heartstrings as kids books rarely do. Short chapters, hilarious illustrations, and just enough big words to require either a handy dictionary or willing adult.

Delightful!
I have been a Pearls Before Swine fan since waaay back, so let me tell you that when I found out that he was putting out a children's book I lost it! But then I found it and I bought it. And let me tell you I read this in a single sitting like it was the most natural thing in the world. This is a hilarious tour de force from one of Northern California's top 10-15 syndicated cartoonists. The characters are sympathetic and funny, the story moves along at a great pace and the ending, well ... no spoliers, right? But it was GREAT! The prose crackles with life! Which was a funny coincidence because I was eating a Hershey's Krackel at the time. Remember those? They came in the Hershey's Fun Size Pack but you never really saw them in stores being sold by themselves. Why was that? Anyway, I just want to congratulate Stephan for easily overcoming his poor choices in facial hair and overuse of hair product to make something that will stand the test of time and should win multiple "Best of 2013" awards.

A pure delight to read the book. Started reading with a lot of misapprehensions, but had a pleasantly delightful experience reading it. Maybe Sherlock Holmes and Hercule Poirot started their career like this. A must read if you want pure unadulterated fun.

Now this one here is a VERY FUNNY book!! It's got LOL moments literally on every page. I am reading it together with my (7y.o.) son not because he is not able to read on his own, but because I want to enjoy the experience as well! It is true that the book is packed with some vigorous vocabulary novelties but that doesn't seem to stop us from enjoying it. The context seems to be enough to explain the new words and the new words are introduced by Timmy Failure himself, not by an adult narrator, which makes them part of the character rather than just unknown words. The chapters are short and meaty, the writer is really exploring his creative freedom. I am sure that certain images will stay with me for a long time.

. Ein absolut empfehlenswertes Buch!!!
