The "one-mic setup" microphone
I am using this microphone with both a four-piece bluegrass group (guitar, bass, banjo, mandolin) as well as with a six-piece group including 3 ukuleles, a nylon guitar, bass, and banjo. It is the only microphone with the bluegrass group except for one attached to the bass. It is perfect for the "one-mic" setup recently repopularized by many bands. It is primarily a vocal and ensemble-sound microphone for the other group. I don't have much to compare this one to except several Shure mics that don't sound all that true-to-instrument. It is not terribly expensive for the quality, and everyone who has used it with us has commented on how great it sounds. Ultimately your tone is produced by you and your instruments, and what the crowd hears will be determined by the components of your system. You can ensure it's never the mic's fault by buying one of these. It does require phantom power, and if you don't know what that means it could be important to you. Many systems have phantom power already; for those that don't, you may need some sort of preamp.

Great sound, classic microphone
Got this for my Daughter for her studio. Great sound, classic microphone. I'm an audio engineer for 25 years. I own many mics, and this one I would use any day of the week on just about anything. Quality and great price. Cannot go wrong with this.

God tier mic
Couldn't be happier, I've had many mid range mics, and by far this has the best tone and clarity for the price. Its quite literally a 700 dollar mic for 400.

I love this mic
I have an Mbox2 Mini and I couldn't get a good sound out of it. I talked with a Berklee trainined musician/engineer and he diagnosed an impedance problem with my microphone. He recommended this mic and I ordered it and haven't looked back since. It sounds great and feels like a quality product for the price. Now, the only problem with my recordings is my performances! =P

Great Microphone
I'm impressed with this microphone. It's a pretty "warm" mic. I've used better but for the price this is a great mic. It's really easy to mix and it's very accurate. I don't need to do to much EQ'ing with this mic and that's a good thing. I just slap a little compression on the track and I'm good to go. If you don't sound good with this microphone something is wrong with your voice.

The SM57 of Large Diaphram Condensers
A wonderful mic without a bloated brand name price. I have been using this mic for years now and the combination of it's durability mixed with stunning tracking results makes a great all purpose mic for beginers as well as experienced engineers. Sounds awesome on drum overheads, male vocals, and brass. It shines especially in it's upper mid range but isn't too harsh on the high end side of things. However, like the 57, it is not going to give you anything oustandingly unique and nuanced like other more expensive microphones. It's a workhorse and will support a great end result when paired with more upscale microphoes. Absolutely a must for any mic locker!
