What I love about these dimmers is that I can plug in all the lamps on a switched circuit, adjust the brightness of each one to the perfect level, and then when I use the wall switch to turn them off all off, then turn them on again, they are all still set at the brightness level I set them at. In other words, unlike wireless dimmers I've tried, you can still use the wall switch and your setting is saved until you readjust it at the dimmer. If you want to readjust one, the module is right there at your fingertips and the slider is so easy to use and responsive instead of poking away on an electronic pad. I've had two of these plug-in dimmers for years, don't even know how long, it's been that long, and they're still working great. I just added this new one so every lamp on this circuit is dimmed.I tried adding a wireless dimmer on this lamp and it was a big pain in the neck. The switch no longer controlled it so I had to turn that one on and off separately with its own control, and I had to turn it on, then adjust the brightness level, every single time. And there was another switch to mount on the wall or keep track of. I decided it wasn't worth the hassle. I find these ones so much simpler to operate and they are so reliable.Keep in mind, this model is for incandescent and halogen bulbs. If you have gone to LED or CFL bulbs in your lamps, you need the Model Number TTCL-100H. They actually have several models of these that look the same but have technical differences.

UPDATE 6/16/17: One of these dimmers lasted about 2-1/2 years before it burned out completely, blowing the light bulb out, too. I expected these to last longer, but like everything else in this world, they're made in China so the quality/longevity is just not there. Still, it did last considerably longer than the Chinese-made ones I got at Ikea. I purchased two of these, have no idea what happened to the second dimmer, I'm sure I put it someplace "safe" for future use and now can't find it, so am repurchasing another one. Hope the new one lasts at least as long as the recently burned out one did.ORIGINAL REVIEW: Bought two corded dimmer switches years ago from Ikea that looked exactly like these, for use with my bedside table lamps. They worked perfectly well for a long while until they burned out. Went without for years until I recently purchased new corded dimmer switches from Ikea again; they looked different than the first set I got there and were cheaper, Chinese-made products that lasted for less than two weeks each until they burned out completely -- total waste of money. Got these Lutron dimmers from Amazon, have been using one with my bedside table lamp for about 2 months now and it works perfectly. No buzzing, dims the light bulb (incandescent) perfectly. Love that I can shut the lamp off at night without having to reach all the way over to the top of the lamp on the bedside table. The little red dot near the slider lights up in the dark, making the unit easy to find. Would buy again.

Because California decided to make buying incandescent bulbs online needlessly difficult, I had to make do with a pack of 25 watt bulbs for all three of my lava lamps. Unfortunately, two of my lava lamps are supposed to use 15 watt bulbs, and while the bulbs I have work for all three, my smaller lamps overheat after just a few hours. Since ordering 15 watt bulbs wasn't a practical option, I opted for this somewhat affordable dimmer instead.I'm using a single dimmer for my two smaller lamps via use of a three-way adapter, and while it would be ideal to use two dimmers - one for each lamp that needs dimming - this setup is working great thus far. I noticed the bulbs flickered a bit when I first started using the dimmer, but the problem was no longer noticeable after a few minutes of use. I suppose it just needed to warm up or something. All in all, if the dimmer works well in my use case, it probably will for you too - so long as you mind the bulb requirements for this particular dimmer, of course.

I love this dimmer! It is so awesome. In my experience, it only works with traditional lightbulbs, not LED or the newer CFL (compact fluorescent light) energy saving, long lasting light bulbs. I had to switch out my bulbs in order to make it work. But despite that inconvenience, I still give this item 5 stars because it is so convenient! I love the length of the cord, and the little remote that has a small light on it. I keep it by my bed, on my nightstand. Since I had a baby, I knew I would be getting up a lot in the middle of the night, and this dimmer was so nice to have at my bedside. Because of the small red light, it is always easy to find in the dark. The red light is not too bright that it disturbs my sleep. The little remote switch also has some rubber grips on the bottom which keep it in place on the table top so it doesn't slide off. I really love this cord, i highly recommend it!

PRACTICO

We purchased this dimmer specifically for our halogen track lights after having tried a few other dimmers which made horrible humming sounds when the lights were lowered. We had high hope for this dimmer as it was supposed to work with halogen bulbs. Well, it didn't. It made the same loud and very annoying noise just like others. We were quite disappointed. However, this dimmer works great with our floor lamp with incandescent bulbs. Does anyone know any plug-in dimmer that works with halogen lights????[EDIT: 2020/01/29] — Revised to 5 stars; it turned out that one of the bulbs in the track light fixture was defective and making the horrible noise! My bad!! Now the bulb was replaced and this dimmer works beautifully. No humming. A good product especially for the price.

Bought the dimmer to use with a halogen floor lamp. The original dimmer ceased working so bought this as a replacement. Works very well, turns the lamp on and off and dimmers perfectly. The only negative and it is a minor point is that the dimmer is very light so there is a tendency for it to move around on the table surface from the weight of the cord. Overall, I recommend this product.

Lo tengo conectado a una serie de luces de terraza como las qué hay en los roof gardens con 25 focos led y 45 ft de longitud. Dicha serie de luces está conectada a una extencion común de casa y esta última es la conectada al dimmer por lo que me sorprendió que funcionara sin problemas. El único punto a mencionar es el que los focos deben de ser Dimmeables por lo que tengan eso en cuenta antes de comprarlo pues en un foco normal no funcionará. (La mayoría de los focos LED son dimmeables)

Por el precio que pagué es muy buen producto, funciona perfecto y sin problemas. Sólo como consejo revisar si el foco es atenuable y si es compatible con este modelo (no creo que haya problemas, pero más vale considerarlo para no hacer una compra en vano)
