Vengeance (Confluence Book 5)

Well worth the wait
I only discovered the Confluence series recently as I wanted to leave behind the witchcraft genre of stories I had been reading. The first book of this series had me hooked as soon as I read the description. And it did not disappoint! A compelling blend of science, science fiction, drama, and human interest kept me eager for the next sequel. After I read the first 4, I had to wait for Vengeance to be released, and it was well worth the wait. The science is believable and the characters are well thought out and defined. I can’t wait for the next installment!

I only removed a star because I am a romantic at heart and hoped for Adam to get it together in the end … Great writing!Amazing sci-fi!

Book 5 is here at last! I'll be in my bunk.
I love this series. I love everything Jennifer Foehner Wells writes. I haven't read this book yet, I freely admit it. But I just bought it, and I'll be up all night reading it. Because everything that's come before it makes this a much awaited treasure. If there is one book in this world that I recommend to everyone I meet, it's "Fluency," and then I have to back up and say "Oh, but read her short stories, too, and definitely get the rest of the series. And be sure to join the Speroancora Crew on Facebook, because I've met so many other fabulous authors through her." Thank you, Jennifer, for all the many hours of pleasure your writing has given me. I'm so grateful to have more of it to read. EDITTED TO ADD: Oh crap, I forgot to review it after I read it!!! :) Of course I loved it. I'm all about the characters and how they interact, and I like the new additions. There's all kinds of places to go with these new species and personalities. And tying up an old story line in a very realistic way was satisfying. This ain't your Xmas Rom Com. These are real people, with real struggles, trying to sort out being thrown in to a universe they never imagined. It's not pretty. But it's very satisfying. And don't I wish I had a Kuboderan navigator like Miki for all MY personal adventuring! READ THIS BOOK. And everything else she writes. You'll be richer for it.

Holy gods, that was great...
Holy Gods... Jennifer Foehner Wells, that was GREAT!!! How do I review this awesome book? The thing is, Jennifer worked using a trope that I'm "so over", but actuallydid it so well, that not only did it work, it's now on my Favorite Books List!Vengeance is all about Darcy. She works her magic and creates strong bonds with, and amongst her crew aboard the Vermachten, a crew that was once a motley asortment of slaves and guards, but now with bonds of loyalty, friendship, and trust (the best kind of magic)! Even 5 years later, Darcy is still on her-self imposed mission to find her missing love Adam (taken at the same time she was captured), and also to free as many slaves as possible... Following every lead she has available to her, and forcibly stopping every slaver she runs across, she accrues all of their wealth, and adds their ships to her ever growing fleet...Darcy also finds Kuboderans, and man do I love these creatures!Just GET the book, but only after you've read the others in the series first! (Or, at least book 3, where you meet Darcy for the first time). The stories are collectively, and individually, simply Amazing!

A good read, it was just the right mix of new characters and a fresh story.
Book one and book five are probably my favorites in the series. Two different female leads and a good supporting cast of characters. Thank you Jennifer Foehner Wells for not writing another military based science fiction novel. I prefer the discovery of alien species and worlds over the military based stories although quite a few of the writers of that genre are very good at what they do and I will continue to read their works..

Vengeance
Loved it! The only thing I was a little disappointed in was in the killing of Raub. I thought it was just a little too easy considering their first fight. I don't know what happened to book six, supposedly coming out in 2019. Five years later , where is it? I hope it is stir forthcoming.

The end?
Clearly there are many paths that future stories could take going forward, but this book neatly ends at least some of the arcs. I think the first book was my favorite. These are not hard sci-fi. They are a mash-up of sci-fi, romance and adventure. Mostly they are just fun.

Another great page Turner in this series.
This series is very engaging with much better than average character development. Darcy is a very strong character that you just can't help but feel for and support. Raub is a bit more one dimensional but does bring dread into the mix.The editing of this book and series is quite good with only a very few errors consistency that indicate some chapters were written out of sequence.

Breathtaking in scope
These books have everything you could want in great scifi stories. Identifiable personalities, love, betrayal, interaction between planetary species, growing up, healing,...Very comparable to the Star Wars movies, so if you like Star Wars, you're going to love the Confluence series.

Five star science fiction
I really tried to savour this book & not gulp it down in great greedy chunks because it's going to be VERY hard to wait until 2019 for the conclusion of this story. Jennifer Foehner Wells has created an immersive narrative full of humour, villains & heroes, imaginative, exciting & good attention to some real science. Thoroughly readable & enjoyable.Looking forward to part 6!

Great part of the confluence series
Well, that was Part Five of the Confluence Series.I loved it. The story was fast paced, full of emotions and surprises. Some good, some not so, but that‘s the way a good story works. Go on everybody, read it for yourself!I can hardly wait for the sixth and probably last part

Another Entertaining Read
Vengeance is book 5 in the Confluence series, and we take another break from Jane and the team to check in on what is going on with Darcy. Darcy is now a true captain and spends her time busting slave gangs while looking for her long-lost love, Adam.Again, this book feels distinct from the wider series. It trades galaxy-spanning battles with mysterious and terrifying enemies for a smaller-scale story of love and revenge. It's not a bad thing, but if you're tuning in to find out what happened to Earth and Jane after book 4, this isn't going to do it for you. There are new characters and excellent world-building in this book that tie it into the same world, if not the wider story, a little more than the previous Darcy outing. The new races are fun, and I love the slaver-busting storyline. It's a vibe that makes me think of Firefly a lot, a show I still miss today.Jennifer Foehner Wells has taken a hiatus from writing, so I'm not expecting the final book any time soon, which is a huge shame, but hopefully, she will feel better and back in action soon.
