ProtocoOar

These WILL fit a 5.5" paddle or oar.
These are EASY to install... look good...and seem durable. These will NOT come with the Sawyer logo. To install on bigger paddles or Oars.. bring water to boil and reduce heat to lowest setting that stays lit. Put one tip in the water. Put on leather or mechanics gloves and spray the end of your paddle with dish soap. By now it should go on pretty easy so remove it from the water and don't let it cool.. Put the handle on the floor.. They will slide on slightly tight but your gloves will make it easier just grab each side and pull down. If it is too tight, put it back in the water. I've only done it once and my paddles are 5.5" it was pretty easy. They seem to cool down tight to the paddle. Cant speak to durability yet but they are fairly thick and dont think ill rub them up too bad... We'll see.

These are a nice addition to My new wood Utility oars
Ok- I would give a 5 but the product does NOT match the photo, that is very frustrating with Amazon products. That said, these are what i needed. They fit the tips on my smaller Saywer utility oars. They would likely fit larger oars with t a little effort.

Do not say Sawyer on them.

Sawyer Oar Guards
Give these things a good soaking in hot water before installing. The recommended soak time is way to short, they cool down quickly and fit super tight. I suggest doubling the soak time and put on gloves, place the oar handle against a door jam on the floor and place the guard on the oar blade, start pulling and pushing down immediately with one hand on each side of he blade. Once the guard starts moving down the blade do not stop until completly seated. In short long soak, put on gloves, push and pull for all you are worth, in the end the guards are great.

Good fit
Fit as described. I have only had them in the water once but they seem well made.

Not as pictured
The oar tips are well constructed and were easy to install on my Smoker oars. I was very disappointed that the tips did not have the Sawyer logo as pictured. This is what generated the two star review rather than a five star.

They work.
Heat them up in very hot water or let them sit in the sun for about and hour, use some dish soap and on they go.

Good, but no logo...
Got these for my sawyer lites... Forked out the extra few buck for the logo "Sawyer" rather than "smoker"... Received and no logo. Good quality product tho. Held up over many fishing trips this winter and multiple rock dingers. Fit like a glove. Do yourself a favor and opt for the less expensive of the two from the same distributor and you will get the same product for less :)
