Works well and reasonably quick uploads and downloads for a HDD. Capacity is superb and proved cheaper than buying 2 8TB drives. No issues partitioning and formatting the drive in my PC and it took about 3 hours to upload 4TBs of data to it, and this was from an external HDD. Speed will depend on your PC specs and whether mounted internally or externally. Either way, a capable and relatively quiet drive.

First the drivesGreat performance for hddI've had 9 with no reliability problems so far. The only negative is in some workloads they can be noisy.The purchasePurchased 2 bare drives for 279 each on Amazon from a third party seller. Image in the ad stated 5 year warranty but description says OEM. Checking the serial numbers they are OEM drives not shucked so looks like 1 year warranty from the seller if you can get hold of them, nothing from seagate.They arrived in a flimsy cardboard box with a single layer of bubble wrap and then placed in a brown paper bag. The label on the box was for a seagate barracuda not an exos drive. Fortunately they are genuine exos drives, they are new, crystal disk showed powered on once.Both passed drive tests with no errors.Not ideal packaging so I'd buy the amazon insurance for 3 years cover. It still works out about 200 cheaper than the retail drive with a 5 year warranty.

Another reliable Seagate drive with a 5 year warranty as certified on the Seagate warranty site.Been using Seagates since the mid 80's when I entered the computer industry proper. Working for the major manufacturers as a senior field service engineer and later providing in-house tech support. One of the most important things to know is that heat is undoubtedly the biggest killer of hardware and if you really want to destroy your kit, turn off the AC in the server room.If you want HDD's to last, treat them very gently and don't bounce them about on the work bench. Wear a tested and correctly connected and fitted wrist strap when you are working on computer kit. Keep your fingers away from PCB's as much as possible. Read the specs of the HDD that you have purchased and make sure that you understand them - especially max temperature rating. Use FORCED air cooling and don't try and convince yourself that you can run this drive at 50+ degrees C and expect it to be reliable - again read the specs.Now had the drive fitted in the tower since the 17th Jan 22 and in use everyday since. No errors reported thus far 21st July 22.

Prompt delivery, so I was happy with that at least. However both drives proved to be dead on arrival.These drives are not covered under Seagate warranty in the UK and return is to NextGen Technology, Florida, USA, a point that was not clear to me when placing the order.I will not order from this outfit again and I suggest anyone else considers my experience very carefully before proceeding with a purchase.Update: I am happy to retract my previous comment and change my overall rating from 1* to 4*. The only reason I am not giving 5*s is that both drives were dead on arrival. Returning the faulty drives (to Florida) was actually quite straight forward - and pre-paid labels were provided and they were very responsive and helpful.

Package arrived pretty quickly from America, both drives in their own individual box, packaged very well. Easy to install and very large capacity. The sound made by the seeking is probably a bit too loud to have as a drive in your media NAS in the same room as your TV, but I can live with it. If you have yours in a separate room, no worries. Been up and running so far for a couple of weeks with no issues.

delivery was quick. The drive need to be formated for the first time using--easy to do.So far so good, noise level is ok, like a regular desktop hard drive. The surface temperature is much lower than that of a 8TB desktop hard drive (Dell-WD)

Advert fails to state where the hard drive is being delivered from to UK. After placing my order, received a shipping notice a day later that the drive was being shipped from USA!I do not mind paying extra import tax but the seller had not been diligent enough (in a nice way, otherwise not honest) to state where the drive are being shipped from!Drives shipped from USA possess 2 issues:a.) Additional imposed import tax by Fedex.b.) NO Manufacturer 5yr warranty in UK - have contacted Seagate and their response as follows: "Please bear in mind for future reference, that the drive with Serial Number ZL2Jxxxx is an 'Out of Region' drive, which means that this product is being returned from a country/region outside of the country/region where it was originally sold by Seagate. Seagate exercises the right to deny out of region return requests due to trade agreements."So for future buyers - beware!!!

Bought this to extend my NAS capacity. Works flawlessly and silent. Ideal for NAS drives.

A bit noisy, but honestly barely noticeable in desktop PC. And huge storage. Firmware upgrade is pain in the ass, but its same for all HDDs (and probably unneeded). And great value for such huge storage capacity.

Throughout the year it remains excessively expensive. Only at certain time of the year if you keep monitoring the price falls and tou can grab that deal. Quality wise so far no issues. Working perfectly. But nothing can be said about hard disks. If Data is precious one needs to backup.

I received a harddrive with multiple bumps. It didn't even start. Tried two different computers. I bet the product is great if bought somewhere else.

De hardisk werd geleverd zonder beschermende verpakking, gewoon in een papieren omslag, en in de brievenbus gegooid door de koerier. De disk heeft dus onbeschermd, een val gemaakt van 75 cm hoog op de vloer, door de brievenbus. Ik heb deze schijf nog niet gemonteerd, maar dit lijkt mij allesins niet ok. Hier koop ik nooit meer
