Smart Plug, Gosund WiFi Plugs Socket Work with Amazon Alexa, Google Home, Outlets with Remote Control Timer Function Energy Monitoring No Hub Required, 2 Pack, 2.4Ghz Only

I use these smart plugs (smart plug sockets really) as controllers for lamps that don’t suit the controllable bulbs you can buy. I use with a BT smart hub router and I also use the Smart Life app on my iPhone, as I already use this for a number of other devices. Both are fully compatible with these Gosund smart plugs (and also Gosund’s bulbs). (There is a Gosund app too which you could use, details are included with the product). I also use the Alexa App to set up and then run routines for all my connected devices... e.g. “Alexa, goodnight” switches off lights, lamps and my TV. Basic on and off timed schedules can be set from the Smart Life or Gosund app, you do not have to use Alexa.As with most of these devices, during setup only, you do have to enter the router’s menu and switch off any 5ghz channel so that only 2.4ghz is running. (This is why have given 4 Stars for ease of use). To do this, for a BT smarthub, enter 192.168.1.254 in your browser, then go to Advanced Settings and enter your admin password (which is to be found on the back of the router). You then tap on the Wireless section in the router setup and toggle the 5ghz channel to off AND save that setting. [When installation is completed you repeat this process to switch 5ghz back on. I had no interruptions of connectivity to other WiFi connected devices, although I gather that can occur, in which case reboot the router].The Gosund or Smart Life App will guide you through setup once your router is configured to 2.4ghz only [to repeat, this is only necessary during initial set up. You can move the smart plug to other mains sockets within range of your router, without needing to repeat setup].The form factor is such that it does not impact use of an adjacent socket on a UK double wall socket. Same on extension leads, as long as the adjacent plug is a standard plug. A larger transformer style plug might not fit adjacent to it on an extension lead, spacings being less than for most wall sockets.The Gosund smart plug sticks out from the face of the main socket by about 38mm and they are about 57mm across (approx measurements). That might mean moving furniture forward by this amount, if in front of the socket. There is an on/off override switch on the side of these smart plugs.The smart plug/router combination I am using has a range that works diagonally across the property and up a floor in our 5 bed house, with no Wi-fi boosters (I don’t know the full range).I have not experienced the plug/socket warming up appreciably, however, I am using with quite low loads. The packaging indicates The following limits... ‘Total power: 2900w’; ‘Working temp: -20-45C’; Rated Current: 13A(max)’.I hope all that helps someone.

Your browser does not support HTML5 video.  I am using this lockdown period in turning my house smart and these plugs are very pretty and nice looking and they work.They are smaller than the one I purchased before but they work fine.I did not install the recommended app for these instead I am using "Smart Life app" as I have got so many smart appliances at home and its good to have them all connected to same app. But I happy that the Smart life app works with it.Pro -1) Looks great2) Very small3) Work as they should4) Works with Smart Life appCons -1) Wifi connection is not super strong (These are small, and although they work fine, if you have a plug which is too far from your router then you might have a connectivity issue. I plugged it on the 2nd floor of my house and it didn't connect for a few minutes, its working fine now but its its a heads up.

This is my second round of purchasing for these devices. They work phenomenally, turning almost any device with a plug into a "smart" device.Currently the plugs are used to:- Switch my laptop's power on and off for working hours.- Control our floor fan (this helped a lot during summer). This allowed us to fall asleep with the cool air on us knowing that the timer would switch the fan off when we specified it to during the night.- Control the coffee machine's start time in the morning.The manufacturer's app is easy to understand and performs its tasks well, integrating nicely with Google Home. Will likely come back for some more if I find uses for them in the house.

Very easy to set up, just follow the instructions and download the app, connect them to WiFi and they’re good to go. We’ve got quite a few of these around the house controlling lamps and heaters, and other things.Alexa integration is easy, works great, just tell her to turn the plug on and it powers it up.Very happy with these plugs. May even buy some more in the future.

I bought these to allow me to set up a timed slow cooker for food to be ready when home from work. I must say I was very impressed by the build quality and ease of use with the app. Set the time and was even sent a message to say it had been executed so no guessing if it had worked or not. Put the other on a lamp in one of the rooms where the switch is way behind a piece of furniture. Now not an issue just flick into the app or tell Alexa to turn on the lamp. Five stars from me.

Alexa, turn on the Xmas lights!These are a great addition to my smart home (ie one other smart plug 😂). I’ve got them connected to the Xmas tree and outside lights. With a simple Alexa routine they now turn on the lights and tree at sunset 🌅 and turn everything off at bedtime!The plugs follow the usual install process to Alexa. Download the manufacturer app, connect the devices with this first, then load the associated Alexa skill. Alexa will then find the devices and you are done. It sounds a little complicated but it took about 5 minutes.The app supplied is similar to other devices, basic functionality but the addition of power monitoring is really good. So for the same price as other devices these will show how much energy is being used day to day.
