Finicky initial setup, but works great with Home Assistant
I bought this adapter to use with a wall mounted tablet (Fire HD 10) that I use for my Home Assistant dashboard. It's bad to keep tablet batteries at 100% all the time as they can start swelling up, which is a fire hazard. I use this adapter to start charging when the tablet's battery is below 20%, and stop charging when it's above 70% (battery percentage is reported to Home Assistant via the Home Assistant Android app). It works well!. I could have used a regular smart outlet for this, but they usually produce a loud clicking noise when turning on or off due to the type of relays they use. On the other hand, this USB adapter is silent. There's a custom integration called "SonoffLAN" that easily integrates this device into Home Assistant. You do still need to use the eWeLink app for initial setup, but after it's all set up you never need to touch that app again and can instead control it via Home Assistant. The eWeLink app is a bit fiddly, but once you pair it it works fine. I plugged in the adapter then immediately scanned the QR code included in the box, and it worked. Note that the adapter is only in pairing mode for 2-3 minutes so you should only plug it in once you're ready to set it up.

Difficult set up...then continually goes "off line".
I had very high hopes I could use this USB switch to control an external fan which helps cool a mini computer. Unfortunately the switch is nowhere near as reliable as a simple 110v smart plug. The first problem was that it was very difficult to get the switch to pair with the eWeLink app which you download to operated the switch. The app will not pair in either "auto" mode or the manual mode which are the two ways identified in the manual and the app to make the connection. I found, after hours of fighting this thing, that the only way to get it to pair was to go to the app and then shoot a photo of the QR code which apparently correctly identifies the switch and allows it to proceed with paring. The far greater problem, however, is that once paired the switch will not stay on line, And once it goes "off line" the only way to get it going again is unplug and restart the unit and the pairing. Yes, it can be done, but when why even have a wireless remote switch...if you can not reliably control the switch with a remote app because the switch is off line and you have to walk over to it to get it restarted. Just a total fail in my book. Too bad, because a USB switch like this could really be useful for a number of applications...such as turning off/on individual USB ports. I now use a simple smart plug with the fan plugged into a USB power adapter which plugs into the smart plug. Not elegant but it works and it stays "on line" for whenever I need it.

Works Perfect
Not really sure about the bad reviews but I just added 3 more to the 6 I've been running for close to a year now. Connected easily. Work great with home assistants, never missed working for a routine. I have a feeling it has more to do with the home network then anything else. I know my home network with budget wifi routers, has serious connecting issues with more then 30 wifi devices connected, even though they say up to 255. I invested in a nice router(and much more expensive lol) and no issues. Still have cheap routers Connected but only run 20 or so items at most. I hope this helps someone else.Update: Still have no idea what other people's issues are. Another year has past and have had very little issues with these. I've now got 14 of them working and I've only had 2 issues occur. First, after a power failure, I had to just re-add 2 of them back to wifi, they still retained all the info, did not even delete from app, just went through the add device again to get them re-connected. The only other issue has been using low quality power bank. These need a full 5v to run and when the power bank was putting out less, they would not connect to wifi. Put new power bank in and they worked perfectly again. Hope this helps someone else out.

SONOFF Micro: Smart Lamp Control with Rough Edges
Pros:Smart Home Integration: Seamlessly works with Google Home for hands-free voice control, a major plus for bedroom lighting.Affordable: Offers smart features at a budget-friendly price, making it accessible to more users.Solid Concept: Turning everyday USB devices smart is a valuable idea, especially for bedside lamps.Cons:Setup Nightmare: Complex and frustrating Wi-Fi configuration, even for an IT professional, taking over 45 minutes. This steep learning curve can be a major deterrent for non-technical users.Bulky Footprint: The adapter blocks adjacent outlets, limiting its practicality in multi-port situations.Overall:The SONOFF Micro's smart home integration and attractive price are tempting propositions. However, its nightmarishly difficult setup and bulky design significantly overshadow its benefits. Unless you're a tech-savvy individual comfortable with troubleshooting, this adapter might not be the brightest light for your bedside table.Recommendation:While the idea is promising, I wouldn't recommend the SONOFF Micro for those seeking a hassle-free smart lamp solution. Look for adapters with simpler setup processes and compact designs for a more enjoyable experience.
