(My video is this review but spoken into this mic so you can hear the quality.) I have never had a microphone pick up my voice correctly. When I speak low, it fades out, when I go high, it cuts out. This microphone quite contrary catches everything I say without picking up weird background humming! I'm not like, some bonafide super special feller who knows that of which he speaks of when it comes to mic quality, but I find this instrument one of the best I've messed around with while dabbling. It's heavy! The ball core is like lifting a puppy. The stand that comes attached needs the screw at the bottom tightened to keep the legs mostly stable. I have chosen to completely ignore all the other reviews explaining safety and secure desk holds, and I just stick the dang thing anywhere. On a table, on my keyboard, shoved it in amongst a pile of pillows. Look, I'm not that professional when people aren't looking and my desk is literally my bed. He doesn't fall over, and he picks up my noises no matter where I put him. (Oh no I've gendered it. Next comes naming it, and that's when you know you love things too much.) I've been singing karaoke like crazy, and my poor long-range boyfriend who has hearing issues can finally hear my real voice, clearly and properly. I bought a pop filter, it hasn't arrived yet, but I'll probably need it, but for now, the pop pop pop isn't unreasonable.The red light on the front is obnoxiously bright, I just put a little tape over it. Simple. You need a quiet room for using this, but not too much of one. My heater going off doesn't register for instance, neither does my computer. I'm gonna crunch some fresh snow from outside so you can hear how crisp it is though, with a metric you can actually copy, probably. [I end up getting snow everywhere, on my keyboard, and my mouse, so I'm moving and dropping them here.] I love it, it was well worth the money (I paid $30 or so thanks to repackaging and used, but worth the $50 or so.) and I can already tell this little cutie (and it is cute, my aging mother saw it and started giggling and wanted to hold it) is going to be a fine part of my vocal life. Edit: I have no idea why the review is an hour long. It's only a 2 minute clip on my computer. I must've rolled a 1 on uploading.

I’ve been using this microphone for hours and all I can say is it was pretty much worth every penny. I’m gonna basically make this a subjective Pros and Cons review. First off, the Pros, it really is a professional quality microphone that gives you a clear and crisp sounding voice (most evident when making podcasts/voice-overs/livestreams etc.). The microphone only has the Cardiod voice pickup pattern, meaning it would only pick up sound in front of the microphone (remember this is the Snowball Ice, if you want additional voice pickup patterns such as an omnidirectional pattern, I suggest you buy the regular Snowballs or the Blue Yeti). Now, about the make; it’s build is actually pretty sturdy, the outer shell of the microphone is made up of a very heavy duty type of plastic which gives you the “it’s gonna last a long time” feeling. For 40 bucks this really is the best microphone you can get considering the price, if you can shell in a bit more you could even get the Blue Yetis but preferably if you are starting livestreaming like me, the blue snowballs are a great starter microphone. Oh, and another thing, this is extremely easy to setup, it is literally just what the box says: “plug and play” just make sure that the input device is set to the Blue Snowball microphone. And now for some Cons, the mic stand it comes with...oh dear lord, all I can say is that it’s pretty much garbage, it gives you limited adjustment and it keeps sliding, preventing you from obtaining an optimal position for your microphone; given this I would suggest also buying a microphone boom arm mount for your desk. Another thing I want to point out is the fact that this microphone can pickup plosives (those popping/distorting sounds microphones usually pickup when one pronounces ‘P’s or other loud consonants) really easily, so I might suggest getting a pop filter as well. Summary: all in all, this microphone can pretty much float your boat in almost any aspect, it’s cheap price should not fool you as it’s quality definitely does not reflect the low price. Highly recommended!

I've had this microphone only for about 3 weeks, but so far I love it. I recently started a Youtube channel and this is perfect for my voice overs and even recording my voice for music. (I'm a creative goof, so I am recording food remixes to my favorite songs LOL) I am sure there are better ones out there for music, but this mic is fabulous for the person looking for an intro mic that does a fabulous job. I wasn't down to spend $100 on a microphone just to do voice overs. I don't have another mic to compare it to, but honestly don't think I'll ever need one if this one lasts. I did buy a pop filter for this mic and do notice the difference in recording quality. The distortion goes way down if I'm singing loudly into the mic with the pop filter. In other words, buy it. It's affordable and does the job well. **3 YEAR UPDATE*** May 2021 I bought myself some sound healing instruments for my birthday, and recorded them on this 3 year old Blue Snowball Mic yesterday using FCPX as the software. This mic is a CHAMP! It picks up the most minute sounds. In the 3 years I've had this mic, I've recorded hundreds of voice overs, meditations, karaoke sessions, yoga classes, and just started recording sound baths. I didn't think this mic would pick up the tuning fork, but HOLY WOW! The tuning fork sounds like a crystal singing bowl when recorded with this mic! It can pick up the imperceptible sound from the fork I cannot hear as the vibration slows. I also just moved and now live near a freeway and this mic even picks up the soft hum of the cars that echoes through my ceiling vent. THAT's how sensitive this mic is. I stand corrected from my initial review, this mic might be great for music recording if you need a budget friendly mic. This mic is so sensitive, I have to be careful not to swallow or breathe too loud, lol, because it picks that up, too. The video I posted is of a tuning fork 432 hz, and a tongue drum tuned to C. (Mind you, this is my first day playing the drum after a couple of hours)

The Blue Snowball iCE is simple, sturdy, and sonically solid. You won't get pro‑studio flexibility, but for everyday recording, streaming, it punches above its price. If you want a no‑nonsense mic that delivers clean, honest sound, it’s an easy recommendation.

Yeah, this mic was probably overkill for me since I'm not using Skype, doing a podcast dictating to the computer or anyother worthwhile thing like that. I'm just playing games, watching tv (cable card) or streaming radio stations (Boomerradio ftw). The problem I needed to solve was this: I use Voice Attack and some voice packs for Elite Dangerous. I have a cheap headset/microphone combination. First problem was that even with the attached mic, voice commands had to be repeatd to be recognized. The other, and more important to me, problem was that I hated having to either switch all audio to the headset or leave it coming from the speakers and have the headset mute. With the headset mute, I still had to hang it around my neck to use the mic. Blue Ice solved this. I have the mic set about 7 or 8 inches in front of my left speaker. I've tested this with an audio recording program while streaming a radio station (Boomerradio) fairly loudly through my speakers. When I played back the recording I could hear my voice quite plainly and plenty loud, and heard absolutely nothing that was coming out of my speakers. I did have a panic moment when Windows speech engine appeared not to understand me, but it turned out I just needed to retrain the thing with the new mic. Now all is well. I love this mic. I'm considering getting a boom for it just to clear up some desktop space, but I may not. It really doesn't take up that much space. At night, when I'm at the computer in a dark room, it does look like a cross between Hal the Computer and some kind of Terminator. I swear it's staring at me So that's maybe the only 'con' I can come up with. It's also nice that it is USB. I have a powered USB hub so have no problem running the mic from there. With the usually audio plug I would be worrying about running out of places to plug audio thins in. Also, my experience with regular plugs is that occasionally either the plug or the hole isn't quite right and you have to move them around a bit to get a good connection. This never happens with USB. All in all, I'm very glad I decided to go with this Blue Snowball Ice. :)

Clearest microphone I’ve ever had/used. Bar none. Can’t say enough good about this thing. I’ve never owned a professional microphone or anything, I’m a hobbist. So take that for what it is It’s so clear that I had to move a fish tank I had on my computer desk because it was distracting. For well over a year with my old mic, I never once heard my tank. Not a single time through recording or gaming through a headset mic, a rockband mic, a more expensive headset mic, Apple EarPods, 2 different brand cell phone mic recorders or my friends older Sony mic... it just never came through. With this mic, it was clear. My guitar sounds perfect with this mic, which is the point of owning a Martin. You really want to hear the tone of it, and this is the first microphone I can say that it rings true. I’m sure there’s better ones out there and I’m sure there are things you can do with a setup to make things clearer, but for 40$... this pro grade. If you do podcasts, you record music or singing, you’re not going to find a better mic for cheaper. Set up was stupid easy. Literally plug and play. Things I don’t know about it, I don’t scream, I don’t get really loud, and I’m not one of those people who touches the mic with his mouth. I’m an inside voice kind of person who is just doing this stuff for fun. I sit at a decent distance (2-3 ft away) I use my computer to adjust how sensitive my mic is. I don’t play with audio settings after the fact. I just plug and play. But with this mic, the snowball ice, I feel like I can make the next step if I wanted to.

The audio quality of this microphone is excellent. Having said that, you must know about microphones and what is best for the use you have intended. This microphone is best for up close speaking; such as pod casts, streaming, audio/video calls, etc. If using video, you don't mind the microphone being in the camera view. If you're within 12 inches, it is a great microphone. Same with the regular snowball (NOT the ICE version). It has the ability to do Bi-Directional which is great for pod casts or for 2 people talking. But this microphone (single direction) has great audio quality. Again, assuming you are close enough. I do many youtube videos and am able to get the microphone close enough to sound great but not be in the video shot. If you get some quality software that does input/microphone processing; like EQ, gain, etc. with selectable output, like VB Cable and Voicemeeter, you can increase the gain/volume and get the microphone a bit further away. But if you can use it somewhat close up, it's a great microphone. If you need better, look at the Yeti or again, get software to assist.

This microphone is really value for money, for 3 reasons - 1) the sound quality is excellent (I use it to record presentations and media content as well as for zoom meetings, 2) so easy to set up - literally plug it in and immediately use - nothing to download, no settings to toggle with, everything is automatically detected and the mic can be used in all programs. No need for changes to any settings, 3) good build quality - the device is solid and feels like it will last a long time. My friend who recommended this to me has been using hers for 2 years without a single hitch

can't go wrong, its a quick plug and play, and is better than any microphone i've tried at this price range. i would even go to the extent of purchasing a stand for it, until I end up getting a more expensive 300-500 dollar mic!
