Nice Piece
I was a bit apprehensive in that a shelf broke off during assembly. I reluctantly put together the replacement. I was feeling during assembly, it felt weak. However, following the instructions and putting all the pieces in place as instructed, the item gained sturdiness. It’s the exact size I wanted, small but noticeable. I ordered just for placing pictures and a couple of cute miscellaneous pieces. It’s perfect! Also, this same exact piece is sold at middle scale retailers and considerably higher.

Cute unit with a couple issues....
Nice little storage unit. I purchased this to put in my RV due to limited storage for warm, bulky clothing. The large baskets make it a cinch to roll sweaters and fleece for packing.I placed a couple of zip ties on the bottom of each basket so I don't have to worry about the bottom giving out. Perfect solution.I gave it four stars due to the fact that this unit is primarily chip board and not wood. A couple of the screw tighteners wouldn't work so I decided to glue them with wood glue.Overall a cute unit and quite useful...just be aware it isn't wood!

Very nice
This is a very nice well made shelf. Assembly is fairly easy only took an hour. There is a strong smell. I washed it down with mild soap and rubbed it dry. Then cracked the back door open for a few hours. That took care of most of it. The rest dissipated after a couple of days. I mention this as I saw some remarking on it in the reviews. I took the chance. Glad I did.

It's just ok
The paint/finish was flaking off before I assembled it. It's just ok for the price I didn't expect solid wood. The back is very flimsy. Know that you can't adjust the height of the shelves. The other review that said it smells is dead on. It's been out of the box & assembled for a few hours & you can still smell it from a room away.Update: We have had this for a month now. The smell that permeated the downstairs lasted a few days to a week. Now a month later you can still smell the bookcase when you are in close proximity. Honestly, if it was possible to dismantle this item, packaging it back up & return it without spending hours to do it we would returned it already.

Elegant looking
Wow much nicer than I thought it would be!!! Greats size not too big and not too small!!! I added the baskets and a placemat on the topFor my plants. It has a nice color to it and pretty sturdy! Thinking about getting another one. Very easy to assemble as well! Only think it has a small Nick on one of the wood shelves but I used a furniture wood filler and it looks fine now. Overall great product

It stinks, literally
The price was decent (though it has dropped from what it was when I bought it) - but if the box hadn't already been recycled I think I would send it back.It was easy enough to assemble, and quality what you would expect for an item of this price, but the problem is it stinks, like really, really bad - like nausea-inducing bad. If you've ever smelled fish leather (which is as bad as it sounds), that's what this smells like. I had to put it in the garage, and now the garage stinks. Since I can't send it back I am thinking I will try to paint it. I don't think I can bring it inside as it currently smells, and it doesn't seem to be dissipating, so painting it seems my only option. So - in short, buy it if you need something cheap and decent, but plan to paint it or only use it where the smell won't bother you.

Great astetic, nice finish & terrific value
Love this bookshelf! My daughter put it together in 30 minutes. I had read mixed reviews before ordering. I find it to be attractive, wood is smooth and finish is nice. Great value for $’s spent. It smells funky, but the odor will dissipate with time out of it’s box. Was packed well with all parts included to assemble. Sturdiness is adequate for my needs. If you twist it, it gives a bit, not bad for an assembly product.

Nice-Looking Shelf; Very Easy Assembly
I purchased the standalone shelf (without the baskets) and I am happy with what I received. It is not the most sturdy material, but it gets the job done. I primarily intended it to be used more for decoration, so I am not the least bit concerned about its ability to hold weight. That being said, the shelves are not quite as flimsy as some reviewers have made them out to be and I would trust it even with a full load of book or other heavier objects.Assembling the shelf was extremely simple and the directions were very well written; it took me no more than fifteen minutes from start to finish. I was also happy that the shelf did not off-gas as much as some of the furniture I have ordered from Amazon. My only complaint is that the back is actually two pieces of very thin particle board with a plastic strip between them, which looks a bit off and gives it a cheaper look than I would have liked. All taken into consideration, I am very happy with this shelf and would purchase from Winsome again.

Good, reliable flat-pack.
[Pat’s True Review: I bought this. 2020] This is the third piece of furniture I purchase on Amazon from Winsome Wood and, as with the other two, I am left fully satisfied. As far as affordable flat pack go, I’ve seen a lot worse and not much better. You have to understand that these are built to a price, so more than anywhere, you get what you pay for. Winsome Wood Keeps price low by using creative designs and cutting down on the frills. However, they do not skimp below what would be an acceptable level of quality: The OSB is fairly rigid, the connecting pieces are of decent quality, the veneer looks good if obviously thin.Instructions are well documented and easy to follow. Construction makes sense. Final product isn’t a heirloom you’ll leave your kids, but looks good. This is perfect if you need something utilitarian on the cheap, or for an unbudgeted expense needed in the now...Or, if like me, you'd rather do furniture assembly than tabletop puzzles during a pandemic quarantine.I am very satisfied. Good job.

Nice look
First one couldn’t get the bottom shelf to lock. Fell apart moving it. Replacement given with no hassle and it worked perfectly. Handsome product.

Toxic Smell, Poor Quality
I never ever write reviews (this is only the 2nd time in my life I have ever written a review about anything), but I feel like people need to be warned about this. I read through the reviews before purchasing the cabinet, but thought that, like most online reviews, people may have been exaggerating somewhat. I was very VERY wrong. As soon as we opened the box, the smell was overpowering. I thought my husband was being ridiculous, so he put it together anyway. I should mention that the wood pieces had some slight scratches on them from the manufacturing process, as if they'd been dragged or slid across a surface. The hardware didn't fit correctly, so we had to improvise to get it together. Overall, not the end of the world, we got it together and it looked nice enough. Except for the smell. I wiped it down with a damp cloth as well as Lysol wipes every day for a week. And we waited. The smell was so bad that it traveled throughout the house (this was upstairs in my son's room). It took us 2 days with all of the windows open and the unit shut tight in a bedroom to get the smell out of the house, but my son couldn't sleep in his room. Being ever so optimistic, I assumed it needed to air out similar to getting new carpeting installed when you have to wait for it to stop emitting the gases over a few days. A week later the smell was just as bad as when we opened the box, and my son is still not in his room. I did take some time to get up close to inspect it to see if I could figure out where the smell was coming from. I realized that the wood itself is fine, but the finishing products that they used (the paint/stain, lacquer, or both) are emitting the toxic smell. After all of this, I contacted the manufacturer to see if they could tell me what to do to get rid of it. Their response was as follows:"Hello, we apologize for the inconvenience I don’t know why there is a smell on the furniture. Please contact place of purchase for a return."Considering how many reviews discuss this issue, I have a very difficult time believing that they did not know about the issue. Obviously there is a chemical in their finishing products that is emitting a gas. Whether it is actually toxic or not I don't know for sure, but judging by the smell I wouldn't be surprised. It was so bad I wouldn't let my kids near it - that should tell you something right there. Buyer beware.

Small but handsome.
Super cute bookshelf. I am definitely going to buy another one and others in the Winsome series. It's a good size for smaller spaces and smaller apartments. It would work as a bedside table too.Assembly was pretty easy, I did reinforce mine with wood glue though so I don't have to worry about it being wobbly. It's quite sturdy with the reinforcement. I'm currently using it as a media stand with my 24" flatscreen TV on top. It's a good height for that (I find media stands are usually so low to the ground and other console tables too high).

Just OK
Quality is just OK. Easy to set up with cam locks and screws but only medium quality I would say. Plus the two baskets are a little on the smelly side.
