Sinister events bring together a writer (David Soul) fascinated with an old hilltop house; a suave antiques dealer (James Mason) whose expertise goes beyond bric-a-brac; and the dealer's mysterious, pale-skinned "partner" (Reggie Nalder) in Salem's Lot - a blood-curdling shocker based on Stephen King's novel and directed by Tobe Hooper (Poltergeist). Review: A CLASSIC MOVIE ALL ROUND - This is one of my all time favourite Stephen King chillers. I especially like the special effe it's in the movie and the actors themselves a re just right for their roles. I will watch all th e films of Mr. King but then again I own quit e a few of them anyway. Review: Enjoyable old school film - One of my favourites

Good Old School Horror
Firstly, this is a no frills BD but the only version I could find of this film. Unfortunately the printed insert was damaged. Hey-Ho. Anyway, to the film... I remember watching this on TV when I was a kid and being impressed and wanted it in my collection for the sake of nostalgia. 40 years on it was plain to me that the film wouldn't have the effect it did originally; but I'm happy to say I enjoyed the trip down memory lane without it being spread over three nights on the old TV, and the superior viewing experience justified the purchase... there's a nice grain that I wasn't expecting and, after brief fiddling of my audio and picture settings, I've got no complaints. The presentation does still include the "freeze frames" that were in the original to split the film into three parts as mentioned... this slightly bugged me, but would be expected by the purists I guess lol. If you're a fan of 1970s and early '80s horror flicks (and are OK with a dialogue that was clearly sanitised for TV viewing), this one's a no-brainer.

Vampires Lo
An original story which is exceptional if you want vampires and scares.

Too long on Blu-ray
The very successful horror story obviously was intended to be shown in two separate parts, with a short re-cap at the beginning of part two, as pesented on Warner's DVD. The Blu-ray just goes on and on, and frankly becomes a bit tiresome towards the end. Too bad also that the original helpful re-cap is missing.

Excellent blu ray, minor flaws
Great movie and nice to own it on blu ray now. Picture quality is a big upgrade from the dvd and well worth to replace it. It would be perfect if it was in widescreen unlike the full screen ratio. Furthermore I like movies and series to be untouched, so a big flaw and disappointment to me was that they cut out the end from part 1 and the beginning from part 2 and edited it together as a 3 hour movie. Don't do that, and leave the 2 parts fully intact! If you frame a painting by Van Gogh, you don't cut out a sight of the painting to make it fit a smaller frame.

This movie is awesome. It's the full length miniseries as it was aired on TV in the 80s. The picture quality is good. I was really happy to get this on bluray, since previously I could only get it on vhs. Region free is a plus.
