Great resin, makes great jewelry
This is the first resin I ever bought, and attempted jewelry with. Pics: first is the box. The second is showing the resin preserving a picture in a necklace jewelry piece (popsicle sticks to cover faces).Note that I sealed the picture in mod podge first. And the third is showing some jewelry I made with it. Being a newbie to it all, I found that the resin was a little overwhelming to make at first. Scared to mess it up by it being too hot, too cold, or not a perfect 1:1 ratio, but now that Iโve been using it for a week itโs a lot easier. First time use went well. Followed the directions and my resin jewelry came out good! I love how they turned out. I definitely need to work on my skills but I think this resin works well and itโs just me needing to learn tricks. When I got the resin to the right temperature (about 73-75 f), it worked well and had a clear and hard cure at about 18 hours. My first attempt it took 3 days for a hard cure. And yes they were the same jewelry pieces. So I would say I have improved and itโs just a matter of skill and following directions. Would definitely buy again. If youโre wanting to get your foot into the door with resin, I highly suggest this!

Great for Jewelry making
I ordered this to try resin casting jewelry, and it worked great for my needs. The mix ratio is a bit forgiving (within reason), and the epoxy was easy to use and mix. A few bubbles formed in the epoxy during mixing, but when casting I found almost all of them could be removed by dividing a pour into several smaller pours and grazing the top of the casting surface with a lit lighter to pop bubbles before continuing casting. I would say there is enough resin here for at bare minimum half a dozen cast pendant-sized pieces of jewelry, and I probably made 20 pieces total. I did find that after a few weeks of use/storage the epoxy yellowed. The yellowing wasn't complete, but was definitely noticeable compared to previously cast pieces. The yellowing process occurred very quickly- I could see an obvious yellowing in cast pieces when compared to pieces made the previous day. Overall I would say this is a great product if you only need to cast small pieces and/or want to see if epoxy casting is for you.

Create Clear and Durable Crafts with Environmental Technology Casting Epoxy - 8oz Kit
I am very pleased with the Environmental Technology Casting' Craft Casting Epoxy! This epoxy is easy to use and provides a clear and glossy finish. It's perfect for making jewelry, crafts, and other small projects. The 8-ounce kit is a great size and lasts for a long time. The epoxy is very durable and doesn't yellow over time. It's also very versatile and can be used with a variety of materials, such as wood, metal, and plastic. The kit comes with clear instructions, which makes it easy for beginners to use.

Tips for encapsulating larger bugs.
Its a good product, but only meant for small jobs. I tried to encapsulate my Emperor Scorpion after he had died of natural causes, and my end result was that the Scorpion raised to the top and is now half exposed. Its probably a little bit my fault, the directions say its for small jobs but I just wanted to experiment anyway. The instructions state that the solution gets very hot, and I froze my Scorpion to preserve him, and because he was frozen and the solution was very hot that may have caused a lot of the bubbles and caused him to rise to the top. If you are like me and want to encapsulate something a bit bigger than try this... the instructions say that no more than 6oz of the solution should try to be cured at once because it is meant for small projects. so what I would do is combine 2oz of the Resin, and 2 oz of the hardening gel making up 4oz of solution, than (in my case) put the Scorpion on the mixed product (make sure you follow the directions carefully first) and wait at least 24-48 hours until it is completely cured, than, even if the Scorpion rises to the top which is something you should anticipate, it will no longer be an issue. next, you mix the remainder of the gels to make the last 4oz of the solution and carefully pour it over the Scorpion/other insect. this way, since half of the Scorpion is already in glass, it cannot rise, and because you are mixing two small amounts under 6 oz each which is what this is intended for, than you should conclude that you will have a reduced amount of bubbles and a less cloudy complexion. good luck and have fun!

Yes. It's great. Yes it takes forever to cure completely.
I've cast in resin before, and this is about the most economical and least stinky resin you can get. Keep in mind that even after 24 hours, your pieces will be hardened enough to demold, but still relatively soft and tacky. You'll think you've done something wrong, but this stuff just takes FOREVER to cure. 72 hours, I've found is the best wait time for a full cure. If you're an impatient type, this might not be the resin for you, but you can't beat the price. I've found by adding slightly more hardener than resin (maybe a few big drops worth), I can get my pieces to cure a tich faster (but not much faster). However, your mileage may vary. If you're going to mess up your measurements, definitely DO NOT use more resin than hardener or your pieces will never cure. This resin is pretty thin, so if you're wanting to put a big fat dome on your pieces when you're done, I recommend a thicker type. ICE resin is better for doming but it's more expensive. BUT, you could get ICE resin just for doming and save money by doing your casting with this and your doming with ICE. This stuff mixes fine with inks, pigments, and I've even mixed it with glow in the dark powder and made cool glowing charms. It takes to sanding well, and if you manage to keep the dust out of your workspace, is crystal clear. Overall, it's a great value. One caveat: Just because it's low odor does not mean you shouldn't still have a well-ventilated workspace. I've once gave myself a headache with this stuff because there isn't a terrible stink reminding me to open the window, so keep that in mind when working with it. Open a window and put on a fan!

Yellowing
While this epoxy is easy enough to use for a beginner and might be a good starter compared to more expensive brands, I do recommend against it for projects you'd like to gift or sell as it does yellow over time - even without any exposure to light and air (as evidenced by some unfinished pieces I left untouched for a year or so inside a drawer).

So easy to use. Directions very clear. Beautiful outcome
This was my first time using resin. I was torn between this brand and the ice. I reviewed both products and watched yout be videos of people using both. I finally came to the decision to go with this one. Mainly because it was cheaper, and I wasn't sure if I was even going to like making resin jewelry. I am happy to report I am very pleased with my decision. I followed the instructions as listed. Mix exactly even ratios of both. You will get bubbles, but youtube taught me to use heat to get them out. If you let the cast set for 10min most of the bubbles will disappear on their own. But I was left with a few more small bubbles, so I used a lighter and swiped over my cast quickly to pop the bubbles. It works like a charm. And if you have a small cast (like marble size) you can use the heat from your breath to do this. Although I wouldn't recommend that. I did this first before later buying one of those long lighters you use to lite grills with. I will be purchasing this item again!

A good product, even for an amateur
I read some of the negative reviews on this product and was initially concerned. For my part, I had no problems at all achieving good, solid, clear, quick-drying casts. My children loved using EasyCast (with supervision) to encapsulate bugs and make little glitter and sticker charms. In most cases, the polymer was hard inside of 12 hours and rock-solid within 24 hours. I had no experience using epoxies such as this, and I simply followed the instructions. Even for that, the product seemed to allow a little room for error - my proportions of the epoxy to hardener were not always perfectly 1:1. It seems to me the bad results some reviewers experienced may have come from room temperatures outside of the indicated range, insufficient stirring, or failure to warm the product to about 78 degrees before mixing. Anyway, I really recommend this product.
