Jim Lee has been drawing comics for more than 30 years and is one of the most popular comic book artists of all time. The impact his dynamic artwork has had on the comics industry--to his legions of fans and the artists who have been inspired and emulate him--is truly immeasurable. And, in a career filled with highlights, his work on the X-Men is arguably his most popular and enduring. This very special Artist's Edition features Jim's stellar work on the X-Men, including the complete oversized X-Men #1--still the bestselling comic book of the modern era! Additionally, there will be covers, splash pages, pin-ups, and interior pages by Lee doing what he does best--creating great comics. Each page has been meticulously scanned from Jim's original art for this book... affording the reader a keen insight into his creative process never before available outside of original art collectors. Produced in the one-and-only, accept-no-imitations, multi-Eisner Award-winning Artist's Edition format. For any fan of Jim Lee, this book will soon become a cherished centerpiece of your collection! Review: Absolutely jaw dropping - If you're a fan of Jim Lee, specifically his work on the X-Men - what child of the 90s isn't, though? This is a must own book. As with all Artist's Edition the original art has been reproduced at full size in magnificent full color scans that show details lost in the reduction process and approximate seeing this art in person as closely as is possible. Sadly because original art was often broken up during this period this book doesn't present full issues like many of the other volumes do. There's some incredible artwork contained here, but after having flipped through this several times, there's some glaring commissions. This likely isn't due to IDW not trying to get them, but I get the feeling there's just some stuff they couldn't get their hands on for this issue. This volume does contain some rarely seen originals, namely card art which was really nice. For interested parties who are more used to IDW other Artist's Edition books, this is much smaller and easier to handle than many of their other books. While it's far from "small" it's a fraction of the size of the much larger volumes from this series, especially the EC books. This is a great thing if you want to be able to put this on a book shelf, and honestly, the sheer size of some of the other books in this series make handling and storing them very prohibitive except for those of us that have entirely dedicated rooms in our house to store such objects. It's rare you see these books available for under list, and this is selling at a very reasonable price at this point. If you're interested I highly recommend jumping on this before it disappears and the prices sky rocket on it. The only thing I wish that would have been mentioned in the description for this is that it's a second printing. The first printing has long since sold out and while I definitely would have still bought this, I would really have liked to know I wasn't getting a first printing like I thought. There's no difference between printings, but if you're buying as a collector for resale this is something to keep in mind and I thought worth mentioning. If you're new to the Artist's Edition series, this is a wonderful place to start, though. Filled with 90s nostalgia from cover to cover, I can safely say if you grew up loving Jim Lee's work on the X-Men you will not regret getting this book. With it's smaller stature compared to many of the other Artist's Editions this is a prime example of good things coming in small packages. I do wish there were a few pages and even some issues that I wish were included, I highly doubt we ever see anything that approaches this level of attention to detail and quality ever again. In short, if you're on the fence about picking this up - don't wait. Pull the trigger and rediscover a part of your childhood that you'll experience all over again for the first time! Review: A MUST HAVE for any fan of Jim Lee and the start of the 90's Xmen ! Quality OVERSIZED matte prints - Holy Smokes !!!! These are filled w/ Oversized Prints on quality paper !!! BIG and BEAUTIFUL
This book is BIG and beautiful! I pre-ordered back in April and after multiple delays, it finally got here. It was worth the wait. Jim Lee's art greatly influenced me as a youngster. I have most of these books tucked away in a closet and a few hanging up in my office. The details are wonderful to explore. There are covers, panels, and art from the card set. It just hit a nostalgic place from my childhood that I didn't know was there. Highly recommend.

Worth every penny!
If you're a fan of Jim Lee, or heck, just a fan of comics this is (IMHO) Jim Lee's best work, and to have it at this original scale complete with word balloons and all the fixin's this is amazing. The only other way to see these is to own the originals. And the fold outs!! The original X-Men 4 cover spread + more! Scott Williams, Whilce Portacio, and Art Thibert are among some of the other artists/inkers in here that you can just pour over and enjoy for hours. Love it! (And I also have the DC Artifact Edition as well for the Image and DC work Jim has done over the years with Scott Williams too!

Speculation
This is a dream come true—-In black and white by one of the amazing artists, Jim Lee. I’ve always enjoyed his work ever since I was a kid so it’s nice to look back at this classic art.

Massive Excellence
I did not realize that the book was huge. It came with cardboard case that will ensure the storage security in the bookshelf. As a Jim Lee's fan who first took notice on his distinctive artistic style on X-Men and Punisher War Journal back in late 80's & early 90's, this book is a definite eye opener how those now-legendary early issues of Jim Lee's X-Men came to be. You can feel how the raw and yet meticulous details were put into the pages by Lee & the whole artistic team. A must have for Jim Lee's fans.

The image is not what you will get
The book is great; but the image is misleading. The image used is a limited edition. You will not get this. The image needs to be change for those who know, know.

Purchased on 1/29/2022 and it's the 2nd Print
Love the book! However, I wanted to point out that this is the second print. I thought Amazon might have a few of the first print left as the listing has the date of February 23, 2021. I don't care, but there might be some people out there that do. I'd still pick it up.

Not what I expected
First the good: this is a product of exceptional production value, huge size, beautifully packaged, plus it’s Jim Lee. That’s all you have to know on that. So why a low rating? It’s very thin for a start. Plus, it’s just a few choice pages from specific issues. The only full issue included is X-Men #1. A couple of pages in, it swaps from 248 (& I’d rather have had pencils than Dan Green’s sloppy inks) to 6 pages of Gambit & Storm; by Portacio! If I’m paying a premium for a Jim Lee X-Men book that’s designed just to showcase his art as opposed to being able to be read, I expect it to be a Jim Lee art only X-Men book. At first I thought these Whilce pages were included for story reasons, but since there’s no narrative content here, I’d have preferred an extra 6 pages of 268 or 277.

Mein Lieblingsstück in meiner Sammlung!

ASOMBROSO
