I bought this for my nephew and he's under the recommended age group of 8+ but I thought he would still be able to build it. To my surprise this was a bit more time consuming than I expected becuase there are so many pieces. There are a few things you need to build before you can actually start to assemble any of the 6 options. We chose to build the astronaut which the hardest part about that was putting together the motor. I do wish there was a way to have the solar option and the battery option at the same time since the battery option stops running after a few minutes and I'd prefer to not have to remove the solar panel in order to use the battery. The solar panel covers the opening for the battery connection which is why they can't put used together. There are a lot of small parts so make sure you have a clean surface when building this. Other than that all you need are some pliers/siccors to cut out the pieces. Putting them together is pretty easy if you only take the piece you need when you need it. I would recommend buying your own double sided tape as they only provide a few pieces and the heat from the sun made the glue weaker but it still held the solar panel down.

Definitely a more challenging stem toy, which was perfect for our older kiddo. Most of the time spent is actually assembling the toy. It made a good weekend project since she wanted to build it by herself. There are 6 different models to create and the instructions are detailed. It doesn't take too much effort to change from the different models. Probably the most educational and challenging stem toy I have found so far.

I got this for my son, he is into these robot kits. This one has a couple main components that are used for each item you can build, this makes building a different one easy. We started with the dog and then went on to change it to each different item without having to take much apart.

Solar space fleet kits come in many different models. The Solar Robot Creator is a good educational item for children to experience and learn about science. This toy set is charged by solar energy. Suitable for children from 8 to 12 years old.

Gave similar item last year for Christmas and grandson asked for another. He loved it! Just what he wanted, and Granny is happy with a learning toy as well! So long as he likes it 5 stars!
