is the filter cup made of stainless steel or aluminum?

The filter cup is aluminum the filters are Stainless.

The milk wont steam, what am I doing wrong?

This is a poor engineering design. I had to return two of them. Call the manufacturer if you cannot return on Amazon. The passages the milk passes through get constantly clogged. You can disassemble over and over or run coffee pit descaler through over and over....Will still clog up.

My espresso maker will not make more than half an ounce of espresso at a time. Does anyone know what could be wrong?

Hey there, did Desco's tip fix the problem? I'm having the same issue...about 1/2 ounce of espresso comes out and then it sputters and stops and all the lights blink. Already sent it back to the factory once and I'm having the same issue. Have yet to make one drink! Any info is appreciated, thanks.

I have yet to be able to pull a consistently good espresso with good crema. What can I do differently? This is a new machine.

make sure the grind texture is appropriate, if the grind is too soft I have a more difficult time getting the flavor I want. Also when you pack it down don't pack the grind (coffee, espresso) to tight. I will stamp it 2 or 3 times at most. I most of the time get a thick layer of the crema. I had work in a café for 3 1/2 years and that is how I learned, obviously, to make cappuccino's.
