OllyDog Tilden Collar, Waterproof Dog Collar, Coated Stink-Proof Webbing, Easy to Clean with Side-Release Buckle, Puppy Collar, Great for Water-Loving Dogs (Small, Cobalt)

This is the fourth one of these collars I've bought for my very active Lab - and despite how perfect they are for a water-loving puppy, I'd advise waiting till they're a little more mature before buying this, as mine destroyed the plastic buckle part of his first three, and his exuberant chewing phase lasted well beyond the first 3 years of his life! So, the great things about this collar are: 1.) it's waterproof, so your dog doesn't have to go around with a waterlogged collar chafing his neck (or you don't have to carry spare collars with you to avoid that), 2.) it's soft, strong, lightweight and comfortable, 3.) it doesn't hold an odor or stain, and 4.) you actually won't need any other collars because this one doesn't require down time while you wash and dry it. Plus, the colors it comes in are exceptionally nice. So its aesthetic component is also pleasing. The material is not just durable but virtually indestructible (with the exception of the plastic buckle). I tried to have the buckle part replaced at a shoe repair place a few years ago, and they told me it would be cheaper to just buy a new one, which felt like a waste to me, because the rest of the collar looked (and was) brand new. My dog also found the collar irresistible, which might have been all right were I the only one taking it off him at home, but vigilance can only go so far: it was hard enough to remember to put it away out of reach myself, but keeping track of what others in the household do is totally beyond me - hence the THREE collars preceding this one! (It's not that I'm a slow learner - well, it might be, but I prefer to think of it as an optimistic faith in everyone's better side...)

This was the second one of these collars I've bought. The first one lasted almost 2 years before my Lab got his teeth into it and destroyed the black plastic clasp. (The good news about that is that he just managed to mangle and bend it beyond usefulness, but the plastic did not splinter or or become a choking hazard.) Otherwise, this collar was ideal for a water-loving dog: light-weight, flexible, and water-proof, with no sharp edges to chafe or irritate the skin. It doesn't absorb water and dries fast, with the added bonus of being a very pleasing cobalt color, contrasting agreeably with my dog's black fur. When he chewed up the clasp, I immediately began to look for a replacement. (These collars are quite expensive and it seems only high-end pet-supply stores carry them. Being perpetually on the verge of broke, I looked online and found one (barely used) for significantly less (until I added shipping), the only catch being that it was a large and the first collar, which had fit perfectly, was a medium. I decided to take a chance: my dog Duncan being a still-growing puppy of 2 and a half. A word about sizing here: there seems to be a generous range for each size category, in that while Duncan was right around the middle of Medium, by tightening the large to its smallest position, the Large was functional as well. Alas, it was not to be put to the test for long, the Dunks being a resourceful pup with a long memory for enjoyable experiences. He waited for his chance and enjoyed mangling the second collar's clasp nearly as much as his first. I did try taking both collars to a shoe repair place, but the cost of replacing that simple cheap plastic clasp exceeded the cost of a new collar, so Dunks is back to wearing a cheap collar I can afford to replace if and when he gets the urge to work on a plastic clasp again.

So I bought this collar and the matching leash in pink.. LOVE the leash, it's great. Held up to everything and looks pretty much as good as the day I bought it.BUT the collar not so much.. the material has held up but around all of the "creases" ex. where the metal loop is, the clasp and the part you use to adjust the length of the collar - it turned blackish/tarnish/dark? And it isn't because my dog got it dirty.. I'm not sure if this has happened to others but it just makes it look faded and dirty all the time. Considering the price I paid for the collar and how great the leash looks, I'm really surprised that the collar didn't hold up better from a color perspective.I'll try to add a photo at some point showing the collar and leash side by side so you can see the difference.

Great collar! Great for dogs that swim (doesn't hold any moisture). A bit stiff so collar can't be easily twisted [I had an incident when my two dogs were playing where one twisted a softer collar choking the other. It was scary!]. I replaced these collars after about 4 years -- they were beginning to show wear (cracks) in places. I was so happy to find I could purchase them again! I love how bright the orange color is! A great, quality product - highly recommend!

My dog has worn this collar in black for 6 years and it is only now starting to show wear. She is a rough and tumble gal who loves to swim, run in grass, dirt and mud, play in snow, and who gets bathed with her collar on regularly. Thus, this collar has weathered it all and it's never retained odor or dirt and I love that it's a quick release collar. Six years ago, I asked the company to make it in pink or purple and they said they were "working on it". I am so happy it's here! In the beginning we purchased loads of expensive, "cute" collars with patterns and designs on them in addition to this one. They always disappointed and we kept going back to the Tilden. Finally, we stopped trying to dress her up altogether and kept the Tilden collar on her full-time. We'll never make the mistake of buying another kind again. It's the best!! UPDATE: After receiving this color, I do have to tell prospective buyers that it is neon and I don't feel the picture is totally accurate. Although I hoped for this to be a hot pink rather than a neon pink, this is still the best collar in existence, so no star docking is merited.
