Bayou Classic6-qt Pre-Seasoned Cast Iron Oval Roaster with Cast Iron Lid

For baking sourdough bread, it's recommended to bake it in a Dutch Oven..I have one of those overpriced enameled French jobs and a Combo Cooker but, I like to bake my bread in batards, which don't fit in the combo cooker and from what I've seen, the Enameled ones don't stand up to the 500 degree temps without damage. I found this on Amazon and decided to give it a try, although, I'm usually particular to buy American made cast iron, the reviews were good and the price even better..Good call. I'm happy.

Works great for sourdough bread loves. Since it’s black, it gets a lot hotter. Don’t need as much preheat time for this baby. Using a Lodge trivet to help not burn the bottom of my loaf.

I ordered this dutch oven because of its oval shape which is nice for baking a batard in. However, I failed to recognize before purchasing it that it might be quite heavy. Sure enough, as soon as I removed it from its packaging I realized that it was much too heavy for me to keep it. But I do like Lodge and I own two of their cast iron skillets which I love!

This is a great pre-seasoned cast iron roaster.We have made several meals on the stovetop and in the oven. It maintains heat keeping food warm while serving. It cleans up with soap and water.

Great item but I wish it was a bit bigger

If the user is female, make sure you are able to carry it safely, because it is very heavy .

Works well for roasting chickenIt worked for cooking this oversize chicken. This was a large farm fresh chicken.
