Brings Joy to the Heart
The innocence and beauty of this tale make you feel as if you can bring a little beauty to the world just by living in the same honest way as little David. It's a simple tale, not cleverly woven, just humbly told with the hope of inspiring the disillusioned. If you've read the author's 'Pollyanna' you'll find this one familiar. Worth the read!

Good book, weird printing
Aspect ratio and typeface and layout were strange. I do enjoy this book, there aren't many books like it in terms of painting and shaping our palates to what is good and beautiful.

Reminder of the true beauties of this world.
I chose my rating because it is well written. Eleanor takes us on an incredible journey of innocence that has long been taken from us in our world of pride and material possessions. His way of seeing the beauty around him touches even the hardest of hearts. His compassion for others and nature are inspiring. As he grows in knowledge of what the world is really like, he's able to put things in their proper perspective. He is truly guileless. I love how he finally comes to know who he is and that his love for life and music will be developed and not destroyed. It's a feel good book and well worth the read. Eleanor is an excellent writer who was able to captivate me with her compassion, insight and love of simple things. I recommend it for people of all ages, from children to grandparents!

Brought to you by the author of Pollyanna. Lesser known but fully as good. It'll make you both laugh and cry.

Heartwarming and uplifting!
First published in 1916, “Just David” is a heartwarming and uplifting story with some beautiful quotes.David is a good natured, if somewhat naive boy, who expresses the wonders of nature and the world around him, through his violin. His talent for the violin is exceptional. He lives high up on a mountain top with his father, but sadly his father is dying, and he tries to explain to David what will happen when he leaves this mortal coil."I shall not return, but some day you will come to me, your violin at your chin, and the bow drawn across the strings to greet me. See that it tells me of the beautiful world you have left-for it is a beautiful world, David; never forget that. And if sometime you are tempted to think it is not a beautiful world, just remember that you yourself can make it beautiful if you will.A real children’s classic, written by the author of Pollyanna, which though somewhat idealistic, still has relevance today.

Just David
It has a sad start. This little lad called David loses his father. He gets taken in and finds out later who his father actually was. Somebody famous. It is a nice story all through. He finds friends where he is taken in through playing his violin. Reminds me slightly of Anne of Green gables and Pollyanna, both who were orphans. Fully recommend.

A beautifully crafted story.
A recommended read. It has something to inspire us all as well as a little veiled romance. Easy to read.
