Very sharp! Creates long sturdy sharp point. re the color/pastel side, see in the review.
There is nothing to dislike. Exactly what I wanted. I like it so much, that I recently purchased another one just in case I would mislay it, and need to keep the points I like in the meantime. To answer a potential buyer's question: yes the color side does not sharpen the same way and to the extent that the regular pencil side does. However, I put a colored pencil in the graphite pencils' side and it sharpened it to the long fine tip. Note: I plan to purchase some new colored pencils- two identical basic sets, one to use to make the sharp point, and one to use with a regular sharpener that I also purchased. Why? One must do this as the repeated sharpening of a pencil to those very sharp points uses up the pencil much faster; therefor, my plan is to have two sets, and only use the very sharp point in very narrow areas to color. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Nice, sturdy, portable
Gets the job done. I like these little metal sharpeners more than plastic ones, personally. They just seem to work better than most other sharpeners. Ya just need a garbage for all the shavings, but at least this can easily fit into a pencil pouch.

Works perfectly
Very sharp blades. One hole for colored pencils, which is a shorter angle for the more fragile nature of colored pencils. The other hole for graphite pencils gives a longer gradual tip which is great for pencils, but not for colored pencils. The holes are well marked. Doesn't eat up my graphite like my electric pencil sharpener does. Works well on hard and black graphite, but not for pastel pencils. I wish it came with a cover to catch the shavings, but can live with it.

It works well, but not on its own pencils
This sharpener is sturdy and very sharp, with a replaceable blade. However, it does not accommodate Faber-Castell's Albrecht Durer watercolor pencils. If you wish to sharpen those pencils, buy the M + R sharpeners with extra large holes. These work well and are easier to grip.

Awesome
I bought this one because I know that metal pencil sharpeners are much better than plastic ones. My kids, son especially with drawing, go through pencils fast. When others break, this one is high quality and up to the job. It can sharpen different sizes of pencils easily. The only thing I wish was that you could buy more blades for it because it will last that long. Definitely worth the money.

Tired of your charcoal pencils breaking?
Yeah, so was I. This is literally the only sharpener I have ever owned that has yet to break a charcoal pencil on me when I use it. It gets to be pretty frustrating when your pencils get to be nubs so fast because the lead is consistantly breaking. Use the color side for the softer pencils.

Updated Model Made in China
This is an "genuine" Faber-Castell sharpener although this one is made in China likely for the US market. What I mean by "genuine" is that this sharpener is sold by reputable Faber-Castell retailers but at a much lower price ($2-3). Also, a similar sharpener can be found in stores for $2 without the Faber-Castell branding.

Pencil breaks frequently
I don't know if it is my sharpening technique but often the pencil breaks before fully sharpened. So wastes the pencil.
