This Wonderful, Krazy, Kit Cat Clock Works!
The Kit Cat Clock has been an American classic for decades. It's funny, cute and maybe too tacky for some folks but a lot of people (like me) love it. I read a lot of other customers' reviews before buying this and I recommend that you read some of the high rated reviews if you are planning to buy it so you know the "tricks" to getting it to work. It is somewhat fragile and it takes care to open it without damaging it, removing the foam insert, installing the batteries and putting the back part on again. You need to get the top of the back (up by the ears) in first and gently snap the panel in. It is also a good idea to use a screw rather than a nail to mount it since the screw should be more stable and you can adjust the small distance between the clock back and the wall as necessary to keep the tail assembly moving. You will also need to adjust the vertical angle a bit to keep the tail motion going. But I was very pleasantly surprised to see that, with careful preparation and installation, the krazy thing really works. The wagging tail assembly isn't even powered by a motor but just uses magnetic repulsion to keep the tail pendulum moving but it has continued to work for months now without any adjustment. It also keeps good time - just remember to only move the minute hand to set the time or you will probably break it. It really looks like a smaller version of the old AC electric Kit Cat Clock that I remember my aunt and uncle had in their house decades ago and the box says it's made in the USA. Good stuff!

Genuine article! (batteries not included.)
This is exactly the same vintage style clock from the original company that I was expecting. it is not a knockoff, but the real thing. I am adding a touch of midcentury kitch to my kitchen and I feel very lucky that this company is still in business and still making clocks in America. I got the tuxedo style because I like the legibility of the clock face and the snazzy silver tie. the clock comes boxed with a lot of care and pride, but no C batteries, so I will need to hunt those down. it is made out of plastic but the motor seems sturdy and they have reasonable manufacturer's warranty in the box. so I feel confident in my ability to troubleshoot. The sound of the mechanism is noticeable, and because of the multiple moving parts these clocks have more tick than a normal clock, but I own mechanical clocks for the noise because I find it comforting. Nonetheless, I recommend this clock for the kitchen, living room, or a workshop, and not a room where you need to sleep.

Great Clock; small issue with animation but easy fix
Love this clock. It’s a cute addition to my kitchen. Had some issues getting the animation to work and reached out the manufacturer, who were extremely helpful in troubleshooting. If you have the same problem try loosening the tiny philips head screw on the pendulum by a half turn. It’s tightened for shipping and can prevent the tail from moving. Once fixed, it began working beautifully and I’ve gotten several compliments from guests.

After hours, it finally works!
**I got mine to work buy attaching a small counterweight to the bottom backside of the tail. It works perfectly at full swing, flush against the wall, no weird angles or need to prop it up. I rolled up about 4in of grey duct tape and taped it to the back of bottom of the tail. Don't add too much weight or you might break the mechanism inside as it's fragile, just need a tiny bit extra** At first when I got it, right away I noticed that it is made of cheap plastic, it doesn't feel worth 60 bucks. I bought the 15in version, and this is very misleading as the cat itself is about half that size. It is way smaller than you think. The 15in one takes two C batteries, which is kind of an odd size for something like this. Don't miss the tail in the box, it is clipped to the inside of the lid. Honestly, after about a few hours of watching videos, reading reviews and troubleshooting, I was convinced that my clock was broken and was going to return it, because I couldn't get the tail/eyes to swing/rotate. After all that I finally figured out that the tail is too light to keep the momentum going on the swinging pendulum inside. Tail would drag against inside wall of the clock making it hard for the tail to keep moving. I even tried hanging at various angles as listed in the instructions. Once I got this working I must say I am very happy with this clock. I still think it is overpriced, made extremely cheap, and bad that it comes with the design defect of the tail being too light, however, once I got it working, it is everything I really wanted, when I made this purchase. I would recommend to others, as despite the price it is actually probably the cheapest you will find it currently. (Unless you find one at a thrift store or something, and probably need to fix it). Please try my method if you absolutely can't get it to work, as once you see it working to full function it's really awesome, and you will remember why you bought it in the first place. :)

Bigger clock works better than the smaller clocks.
I’m 68 and have owned an original Kit Cat clock that was electric and not battery operated. It finally died several years ago. I bought a replacement but I had to tape the batteries into their spot, and even that didn’t last. I tried and tried to get that clock to operate correctly, however, it only kept time for short periods of time and the eyes and tail never worked. A couple of years after that, my husband bought me a smaller clock and it ran off of 1 AA battery. It worked fine until, when we replaced the battery, nothing. So I decided to look here on Amazon, and found one that looked larger than the one I was replacing…. This one seems to keep excellent time and the tail and eyes work well. I think with this larger clock, using 2 C batteries has a better chance of lasting longer and working better. I do miss my old Kit Cat clock that my parents put in my room back in 1957. At least with the battery operated clocks, I can hang it anywhere…anywhere that my real cat can’t bat at the tail and stop it. It’s in its 3rd place now.

Klockan är väldigt fin. Tyvärr slutade svansen och ögonen röra sig efter några dagar.

A bit flimsy to be honest but I have no regrets buying it and it still (after a year and 2 movings) hangs up on my wall and works as it should
