Durable, GREAT Air Flow, Fairly Quiet
I bought my Tamarack Technology Ghost fan (nor sure of the R rating) back in 2006.Here we are, finishing up 2021, and it's still running.Other than having to change the lithium button battery in the fan "remote" once or twice, the fan has required no maintenance.I had an electrician install a 120V outlet up in our attic, and I did the rest. Installation was fairly simple, other than having to split the Ghost into 2 main parts (cutting/recrimping wires) to fit it through the opening into the attic.Back in 2006, the cost was a bit over 900 doll hairs, so the cost has gone up quite a bit. Here in SW Ohio, we use the whole house fan on a regular basis. In the evening, it quickly cools down our single story ranch home.In a perfect world, it would move 27 million CFM of air with zero noise. This fan does a good job of moving air with minimal noise. At the low setting we have to turn up the TV volume a little, but it's not too hateful. At the high setting, noise is probably more than most folks would like.In any case, I seriously like this fan. It's durable, moves lots of air, fit up into our attic, and just plain WORKS.

Love the fan, not so much the remotes - UPDATED a year later, good customer service!
Installed ours in April, 2020. I grew up in houses with whole house fans, even before the advent of central AC in most homes, so I know the value of one of these. Bought the R50 Ghost 3400 model with WiFi & 2 remotes. Install was professionally done and other than figuring out the programming of the WiFi and remotes was simple. I love the fan! It's reasonable quite, especially on the low setting and does a wonderful job of moving air through the house on lower humidity days when the temp is reasonable outside (I live in the deep south where humidity can be brutal). Lower humidity days are key as muggy moist days still need real air conditioning to suck out that moisture even from cooler air. Fan part has work great and I have no problems with that. But....4 months later and the remotes seemed to have lost range and I had to almost place them against the grill in the ceiling to operate the fan. Now another month later neither of the 2 remotes nor the WiFi are connecting. I made the mistake of not having a set of hard wired switches put in during the install. So now I have to either crawl around in my attic and reprogram the WiFi and remotes or have an electrician run the two manual switches. I have another electrical install that needs to be done, so I'm having the manual switches installed (I'm also disabled and have no business in my unfinished attic). I will use manual switches going forward. So basically the WiFi and remotes are useless to me.***Updated 09/09/2021*** Warranty claim on failed remote module. The remotes will no longer pair, so I contacted customer service (limited 3 year warranty). I'm 1 year into my warranty period. After providing them with the unit serial number and copy of my invoice to establish warranty date, they are now shipping me a replacement remote control module. They no longer sell the wifi/RF remote model like I have and the replacement is a RF only like they currently sell. Kudo's for Tamarack Technologies customer service for stepping up and promptly covering this warranty issue.
