Love
Such nice thick paper, usable for all sorts of media, smooth with less tooth. Still held paint or watercolor nicely. Used with soft bodied acrylic, watercolor and oil pastels that were water soluable. I did not heap water on the paper, I don’t think it would quite handle that. But lighter watercolor with a less significant amt of water, sure.

Excellent weight, size and design for magazine collages
I purchased this sketchbook for use in my collage art and am very pleased with the quality and design of this item. The pages are a nice weight and are a pure white color. What I particularly love about this journal are the spiral binding and the size of the pages. The spiral binding allows me to fold the journal back on itself while I'm working on one page at a time, which helps save me work space. The size of the pages are perfect for my magazine collages, as most of my art work is 8.5 x 11 inches in size. This size journal is harder to find, and I'm so glad that it's being made available through Amazon. One word of caution - if you plan on using Copic/alcohol type markers directly on the pages, please note that the ink will bleed through to the other side. If, however, like me, you will be coloring magazine type pages that you've adhered into the journal, the alcohol ink will not bleed through.

Thrilled with my new item
I am updating my review of this item per the following reason: Sutter Lane acknowledged my three star rating and sent me a new FULL SIZE sketch book as a replacement, at no charge. They did this despite the fact that my disappointment was caused by my lack of reading the original notebook dimensions. I am so happy because I loved the notebook color and quality - I searched forever to find a spiral bound book that would stay open. It was just too small - which isn't the case anymore!!!!Original review: I did not read the description closely enough - was disappointed at how small this sketch book was. I will not be gifting it to my niece and cant figure out what child would want to keep their art in a pocket sized pad - good for on the go but not for your budding artist to really work on their drawings.

water color friendly, will bleed through page with alcohol based markers
I really like this sketchbook. The paper is a surprisingly good quality and can handle a lot more than just pencil and pen drawings. I've used water colors, permanent markes, sakura pens and markers, acrylics, calligraphy ink and pens, copic markers and the paper did not disentegrate. As for bleed, the alcohol based markets will go through and you might want to put something under the current page you're working on to prevent it from bleeding on to the next page. It's also fairly sturdy, I had some reservations about the spiral binding but it has held up to travelling and getting thrown into bags.

Quality paper!
This paper is really great. It holds the ink well, and I use sharpies on it and the sharpies do not bleed through to the other side. Note: it is NOT hard cover, but the covers are quality material for what I want it for. If you wanted to sketch in your lap you would need something to put it on if you didn't want the product to bend. I recommend this product!

Should probably order it by itself
Nice, large sketchbook. The cover is a little thinner than I thought (just a black plastic thing) but the paper is pretty thick and my brother who likes to draw said it can be versatile (like you can use a variety of media). Only thing is, when I got it, it was a little bent probably because it came in a package with something else so I didn't enjoy that but just fixed it by setting something heavy on top of it overnight.

A Happy Artist
I wanted to order the 4x5 sketchbook but the black ones were sold out. So I ordered the 5x7 instead. I'm happy with it because not only was the paper pretty good (I make mostly ink drawings but pencils looked nice too) but the size was perfect for me! I'll be ordering another one soon since I'm almost done filling up this one. :)One nitpick: I think I would've ADORED this sketchbook had it been hardcover.

Nice sketch book with lots of pages and a good ...
Nice sketch book with lots of pages and a good size for kids.If giving to kids the nice looking front cover will likely tear off as it is deceiving in the image. I didn't realize that it was just a painted on image on a +/- 24 # stock paper or cover like any other notebook. I thought it was thick like other sketch books due to the texture on the image.Other than that a good sketch book for play but likely not for long term use or storage of valuable sketches
