An heroic, fascinating read. A story of the highest and lowest of human choices.
Reviewed by Diane DawesWhat an amazing read! Even though I know so little about world events, I remember hearing enough so that I could connect some of what I read to what I knew. Even so, this book was simply one of the best books I’ve read. Intrigue seems to follow Fr Murr everywhere. It’s astonishing to read of his excursion into Lebanon and Syria at an incredibly dangerous time in history and live to tell about it. Fr Murr’s writing style in compelling, flowing and easily lends itself to the reader’s imagination. In Fr Murr’s first book, “The Society of Judas” he spoke about betrayal. He said, “ you cannot be betrayed by an enemy, only a friend can betray you”. I might be paraphrasing. I found that profoundly thought provoking. Now I understand specifically what he was referring to. This book, as with his others, I highly recommend!

Unknown Territory of the heart and of geography
This is yet another book of suspense and intrigue by the fascinating Father Charles Murr. He does not spare us from the highest ideals to the not so politically correct expectations of our day to the goose bump journey of adventure and heroism. I loved it and wish it were longer. Charles Murr makes no apologies for his beliefs. He has learned much wisdom, too, through certain betrayal. He is a truthful story teller and invites us into unknown territory and marvellous characters .....we may wince at times but hopefully profit from the literary ride into unknown territory. Thank you!

Practicing the faith under pressure
An excellent exposition of the relationship between two men, who happen to be Catholic priests, set against the backdrop of human and political intrigue. It is an honest and objective portrait of an extremely complex relationship.

very adventurous reading
I enjoyed the intrigue through out the book. The violence encountered beside the goodness and heroic actions made for excellent reading I was surprised by the ending

What a story - and it's true!
It's amazing how many events we never know about. This would be one of them if it wasn't for the recollections of Fr. Charles Murr. It's a fascinating (and true!) tale of a kidnapping of a top Vatican official in Lebanon, the demand for a very large ransom (in three days!) and the bravery of those who worked together to rescue him. Do yourself a favor and learn some history as you enjoy great storytelling. Highly recommended.

A must read
Beautifully written. A book that emanates kindness, true accounts and journeys through loyalties and otherwise. Please read this book before 2020 is over. You will forget about all the pain this year may have caused you.

Amazing story
Very readable and even better as it’s a true story. Fr. Murr does have a way of writing like he speaks, very well and easy to follow.
