Earth Defense Force 5 (PS4)

I love the EDF Franchise. Yes, they’re ridiculous. Yes, they’re graphically out of date. Yes the frame rate falls to unbelievable lows because of the volume of stuff on the screen. BUT, the simple easy logic, the fun weapons upgrades and the amazing frenzy of battle B movie game play still make this game (like it’s predecessors) brilliant fun. The two player split screen is just awesome and a rare treat in games nowadays. Giant ants, spiders and other creatures as well as massive space ships, robots and everything inbetween with FILL the screen with wave after wave. It is frantic and none stop and I love it. There are many games out there that have amazing graphics, are filmic and that’s great. EDF is all about it’s gameplay and some genuinely inventive scenes. Name me one other game where you’d fight giant spiders, wasps, bugs, dragons, Godzilla’s, giant space ships, robots, giant robots and more on a scale you can barely imagine. It. Is. EPIC! I’ve never regretted an EDF purchase and EDF5 is a welcome addition.

A great follow on from the awesome edf 4.1.Many more weapons maybe 1000 or so , about 110 levels ,5 difficulties.new bipedal enemies and some very strange fat flying frogs.all the joy of the edf series and still has the awesome voice acting and comical characters.there are also some improvements to the graphics from 4.1 but not hugely,not to mention the updated menu system etc.overall a great game and many hours of fun without too much thinking.i personally think 4.1 is very marginally better but not by much but 5 is hugely better than the atrocious iron rain which for me didn’t feel very edf.Trust me just buy it and shoot some frogs in the face 🐸 👍

My son and I, love the Earth Defence Force series of games and this one did not disappoint.They really are the best, worst games, ever made. If you like B-movie films and you like gaming, this series of games might be for you. Each game in the series has its story, (albeit the same story but with a few tweaks in the timeline), but they are bonkers stories about how Earth became attacked by an alien race of insects and spiders that are as big as cars and scale buildings. It's up to you to learn the 4 different classes of soldier and fight through the hordes of alien ants, spiders, giant frog creatures, dragons and more. Ridiculous amounts of hours of gameplay and levels as each soldier class has 5 difficulties per level and there is 110 of them, so in theory there is approximately 2200 levels so it has a lot of replayability, certainly more than most games these days.So to put it simply, if you want to play a game that is Graphically Under Par, On Purpose, Infuriatingly Long, so Ridiculous it's Brilliant, a total waste of a 4K screen But Who CARES because it makes you Laugh Hard and Cry Long, Addictive Because it's Bad. Then buy it you'll not regret it, it's definitely priced right for hours of fun.If you don't believe me check out YouTube especially "the best worst video game earth defence force". Love this game.I have got all of the previous games of this series, while the graphics junkies might complain about tearing and pop up and a bit of slowdown occasionally, this game is pure fun.This game offers more varied enemies, weapons power ups, online or local multiplayer and best of all, hours of mindless killing and blowing things up.If you want a polished, glitch free game, you might have some small complaints.If you want hours of fun and 110 levels (without having to buy them separately) then this is the game for you."EDF! EDF!"

I don't like downloading games and missed out on this but am glad I had a chance to play this great game ^^

Good to keep your kids quiet very repetitive but good gameplay

EDF 5 is an awesome game, although not for everyone. If you spend some time on it there's a chance you'll find how unique this game is and just how fun can be. And challenging.However the 1 star is about the edition. Took 2 years for Pqube (most probably BandaiNamco / D3) to make this available. It's inadmissible. And they don't even include the DLC to make this at least a plausible or justifiable purchase. The DLC missions will never be on sale on PSN, but the digital deluxe that includes the game and both DLCs packs is. The usual insult and disrespect for customers from BandaiNamco.Unfortunately BandaiNamco / D3 will always continue to treat western customer like second class customers,and the same will happen again for EDF 6.
