Great safe!
This is a solid safe for keeping out youngsters. Like all of these small type safe anyone determined will get into them with time and tools. Unlike most of the biometric safes the locking mechanism will last 50 years. My first safe was a Viking and the electronic s on it broke about a year in. Very common in all cheap(less than 500) biometric safes. Plus the locking mechanisms are very prone to breaking. So a safe that either won't open in an emergency or won't stay closed are just crappy boxes. Enough of the old onto the new. Opening this safe is just as fast as my old biometric safe. The time delay in my old biometric safe between scanning and opening the lock is the same or longer than entering my combo. There are four holes in the bottom so you can screw it onto a flat surface. It is pretty big inside easily enough for 2 full sized handguns. I put in a 1911 and a compact carry gun no issues with space for a flashlight. The bottom is heavy enough to open the lid and it doesn't fall over. The inside is fully covered in foam do you can actually carry the safe to the range without marring your guns. The weight is roughly 10 pounds unloaded. I do plan on using this at home and when we go on trips. However have only carried it by the handle a few times. The handle feels a bit small for the weight but is all metal and doesn't flex at all with 2 guns inside. I picked this over the others because of the carrying handle, the added foam protection for carrying, and being a lower weight than the ps1210hd. My safe is to keep my kids out not a burglar. I have had the safe now for 2 years. Zero issues and I still direct anyone buying a safe to get these. Mostly people after their biometric safes either quit working.

100% must have with kids around.
perfect for my application. I don't trust electronic locks to work when I need them to or deal with batteries. The Simplex lock is perfect when the goal is to keep curious kids away from a firearm. The steel gauge is suitable and this is well built. I don't care that this doesn't have millions of combos. I can open it blindfolded and it fits in my nightstand.

Sturdy but lock jams
Worked fine for 2 years, and then jammed. Calling AmSec will put you on a waiting list for technical support. Overall, safe is good as long as you don't need access to your firearms.

Unreliable, low quality lock - Steer Clear!
I have had this safe for a little less than a year. In that time I have opened it maybe 10-15 times to check on the item that is stored inside. Today the lock failed to unlock when the combination was entered. I have since entered the correct combination at least 20 more times with no luck. After try #5, the knob advanced a 1/4 turn and jammed. The lock feels to be internally obstructed. I am glad this occurred during a routine check and not in the middle of the night after hearing glass break. Save your money, buy a Liberty or FAS1 with a real simplex lock, not a poor Chinese imitation of one.

Great safe for portable piece of mind.
Great small safe. I have a much larger stand up AMSEC safe that I love. I put AMSEC up with the top of the line safe builders such as Fort Knox etc but at a more consumer friendly price. Love this small safe because it's mechanical so no chance of electrical failure or batteries dying. Code is easy to use and reset. Good value for piece of mind.

Solid option for a reasonable price
I ordered this as an alternative to the more expensive Fort Knox. I’m pleased with the purchase, although it was a rough start. The first safe I received had a damaged box, sticky lock, a scratch on the side, and a smeared logo. Maybe a factor second/return? Anyway, exchanged for a new one and got a good product. The lock works flawlessly, easy to change combo, and big enough to fit my 21 and my wife’s 43x. It is heavy, but you could potentially use it for travel. All in all, aside from the “Amazon factor” of getting a jacked up item at first, this is a solid option! Knocked off one star because of the first item I received

Nice safe
Nice solution for keeping pistols safe, yet accessible. Well constructed and heavy duty. Opens quick and easy to program your code.

Frustrated
First off, for a company with the word America in it that boasts about its products being US made, shame on them for not disclosing that this is one of their only CHINA made safes. The safe itself seems well made, but they either sent me a used unit or a factory second or something. It has a big crease in the metal with a different application of paint on it. It also has 5 spots where paint is chipped through. I'm also removing a star for the fact that you have to search the internet to figure out how to open this thing just to get to the manual to be able to set it up. This is the 3rd safe I've bought recently and I am so fed up. I just want a small safe that has a simplex lock. I guess I have to fork out a bit more and go with a fort knox or v line.
