Balconi Mini Tiramisu - Pack of 10 X 1.05 Oz = 10.5 Oz

After being burned before with international snack cakes, I had strong doubts when my husband put this in our shopping cart, at Global Foods. I had some good tiramisu in a Chinese restaurant called Emperor's Wok, that was excellent. Unfortunately I haven't found a taste to match that. This one is good enough that I would buy it again. The aftertaste is one of powdered cocoa and a little bit of coffee. The cake tastes a little like German chocolate cake. The coffee taste is not overpowering. The cake needs more moisture. It doesn't have the fresh spongy texture like a Twinkie. But all-in-all, it's a decent tasting snack cake. Each cake has: 16g carbohydrates, 2g protein, 60 fat calories, 130 calories, 10g sugar, 55g sodium, and no grams of fiber. Kind of surprised on the fiber, because the less than moist cake with the dusting of cocoa brings it to mind.

These are possibly the best prepackaged snack cakes, ever. They taste appropriate and are texturally delicious. They are two layers of light chocolate sponge cake with a layer of mascarpone flavored with coffee in-between, no superfluous icing topping, no waxy feel. They are simple and perfect. I have not tried the other items made by Balconi, yet. They are in transit now...
