I tried this and the competing Green Drain, both for a floor drain in a basement showe, with a 2" pipe. Quite simply, this one drains quickly and while the Green Drain drained slowly, causing the water to back up . Possibly if I had been able to push these devices deeper into the pipe, so that a larger column of water developed above them and increased the pressure, the two would have worked equally well.Important caveat: the source of my odor problem turned out *not* to be the shower drain, so I can't testify to how well either device blocks odors coming up from the pipes.

Unless there is a heavy flow of water this does not let more than a trickle through at a time. Water gets ankle deep before you finish your shower. Not only that but you have to glue this product in place so once it’s in you are screwed. There’s no taking it out to return it.

Works great

Sewer smell is gone which is why I bought it, but it makes the drain much slower need to clean out the stopper after every shower.

So far so good! Had a floor drain in our basement bathroom that woould occasionally have some nasty odor eking out. This seemed well made. Easy to drop in. I did caulk around ours because it was inserted into an old cast iron pipe with rough edges. It's basically a one way valve and stays closed until water forces open the valve. No smells so far and water drains very well.

It definitely stopped the nasty smells coming up the drain. Sadly, it also stopped the water going down as well. Any hair or debris, even the tiniest bit, blocks the flow and stops water from going down the drain. Sadly this was not the product for us.
